Skills:       5+yrs exp (within the past 7 years) with Oracle 8i and above
              supporting large
              production environments.
              5+yrs exp supporting databases on Sun/HP-UX and NT
              platforms.
              3+yrs exp experience (within the past 5 years) with Sybase
              12.0 and above supporting large production environments.
              Extensive knowledge of and experience with PERL scripting.
              Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call
              database support after normal working hours. Worker will
              work on an as needed flex schedule, which will be total 40
              hours a week, unless overtime is authorized. Worker maybe
              required to work on some Holidays requiring �skeleton crew�
              coverage.
              Exp with N-Tier application systems using JDBC/XML database
              access.
              Oracle RAC/database administration of high availability
              systems.
              Agency knowledge, specifically DHS Legacy systems.


Scope:        Create, monitor and administer databases in Oracle and
              Sybase. Will perform full scope of administrative and
              monitoring related tasks to the management of relational
              databases. Participate in the logical and physical design of
              relational databases, as required. Create scripts and
              routines using PERL to perform admin functions.  Perform
              database performance monitoring and tuning of Oracle and
              Sybase systems when applicable. All work products resulting
              from the project shall be considered �works made for hire�
              and are the property of the client. Maintain relational open
              systems databases (creating, designing, reorganizing and
              tuning, backup and recovery). Develop, maintain and
              implement programs, scripts and routines, needed to automate
              production database administration. Install Oracle
              enterprise (9i or above) and Sybase (12 or above) software,
              including upgrades; configure software according to
              requirements and in line with established enterprise
              standards and guidelines.
              Communicate effectively with customers to identify problem
              and work to resolve the problems; provide information
              regarding policies and procedures for I/T enterprise
              client/server environment. Track assigned projects and
              resolve or escalate issues to appropriate management levels.
              Participate in on-call rotational database support. Provide
              support to development DBA�s. Other duties as assigned.
