Skills:       10+ years of progressive information technology experience
              and responsibility.
              Extensive knowledge of Internet application servers
              (especially WebLogic), Web servers, EJB, JSP, Linux, Oracle,
              OO analysis/design, and multiple programming languages.
              Direct experience designing, developing and deploying
              applications in a J2EE environment.
              Direct experience in web development in an n-tiered
              environment using Java, HTML, XML, XSLT and Web page
              development tools.
              Direct experience with the Rational Unified Process
              preferred.
              Direct experience in the use of Rational Clear Case,
              Rational Clear Quest, Mercury Test Director and Quick Test
              Pro preferred.
              Experience in bridging data between mainframe and
              distributed platform environments preferred.
              Experience in deploying clustered web server, application
              server and database server configurations preferred.


Scope:        Serves as overall Senior Systems Architect in application
              systems integration effort to migrate applications presently
              residing in the IBM OS/390 Mainframe environment to the
              Commission�s Open Systems environment. Determines and
              identifies high level functional and technical requirements
              based on interactions with the user community and knowledge
              of the enterprise architecture. Identifies, assesses, and
              presents options for meeting the functional and technical
              requirements including hardware and software updates or
              upgrades. Performing application and database design work.
              Developing application development and integration solutions
              (using Unix-based and Java-based tools). Determining system
              configuration and sizing requirements, which address
              server, network and client considerations. Prepares and
              presents cost analysis for hardware and software solution
              components for the development, test and production
              environments. Leads project efforts for tool evaluations and
              prototype solutions. Suggests testing approaches. Conducts
              performance benchmarks. Educates technical staff. Promotes
              use of reusable and shareable services. Works with the
              development team in refining the solution architecture.
              Interfaces with the development team in resolving functional
              and technical issues as the systems are developed.
              Communicates and works with people of all technical levels
              in a team environment. Provides other reasonable Systems
              Architect services as necessary for the successful
              completion of selected projects.
