Print-Print versus Print-Preview-Print
Is there a difference between the following operations from any given program? Let's say Safari, because I often want to Preview to see how many pages there are before deciding to print. From Safari: File > Print --> print dialog > Print versus From Safari: File > Print --> print dialog then choose Preview --> Abode Reader view then print directly from Adobe using File > Print --> print dialog > Print It sounds like a waste of steps, but after I preview in Adobe Reader, I usually close the preview and go back and print directly from Safari. The outputs ...

Questions about printing, printing and printing
Hi everybody. A friend of mine give me two HP calculators he dont'use anymore: an HP-28S and an HP-17BII. Including my HP-49G+, now I have 3 HP calculators that are able to print (on a "grand total" of 6 HP calculators). I would like to print something but I don't want to spend too much (my wife can't understand). Now the questions: 1. Are some printers out there compatible with the 3 calcs? 2. Do you know if is there a IR printer server that can be connected to an external printer (USB, parallel, RS232, etc.). 3. Do know if is possibile to use a PC as a printer...

To print or not to print
What is a symptom of, when a print statement, inserted into a program as a diagnostic, removes an error? -- Dieter Britz (dieterbritz<at>yahoo.com) Dieter Britz wrote: > What is a symptom of, when a print statement, inserted into a program > as a diagnostic, removes an error? Array bound violation is the most likely. Some additional memory space is allocated for the purpose of the print statement, and the array then overflows into that space without any visible effect. HP-UX Print Problem
We have OKI 395 dot matrix printers attached to HP JetDirect 170X print servers. We run an application on a HP-UX 11 server which spools print jobs and passes them to the line print daemon. On the LAN this works without error, however we have problems over the WAN, with WAN sites linked via a site-to-site ipsec vpn. The majority of print jobs at these remote sites print without error, however several jobs per day get 'stuck' and print out the same job repeatedly. The only way to resolve this problem is to cancel the print job, which then releases all other jobs in the queue to the ...

Print jobs stuck in print queue
Hi, I work on an AS/400 and in one of the queues there are eight documents that have a STATUS of PRT and seem to be just stuck in the print queue. Basic stuff like restarting the printer and ending the writer do not change the status of the print jobs. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thxs in advance. Contact IBM service, this is a bug...even if your printer writers ended abnormally (unless that was caused by some user error). Thank You Bruce brucebrown100@yahoo.com <brucebrown100@yahoo.com> wrote: > VMS 7.3.2 > > What is a quick command to remove/delete all pending print jobs from a > VMS print queue? Why will print jobs keep printing?
I just installed a Linksys PSUS4 print server, connected to an hp1300 laser printer. Whenever I print a page, it just keeps printing the page over and over until I cancel the print job. I'm running Fedora Core 4 and using printtool to configure the printer. Any help would be appreciated. Multiple pages print as separate print jobs
When I set my Minolta Magicolor 2400W to print 20 copies of a page, for example, it treats the job as though I have submitted 20 separate print jobs. In other words, after it prints a page there is a long pause before the next page prints. It wasn't always that way. I don't know if the difference started with my WinXP SP2 upgrade, or if the driver has been updated without my knowledge. Any help on resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. ...

Print manager: set title of print job
Hello, I'm using the Printer.PaintPicture method to print an image and I want to set the job title that the print manager will show. I already found out that this can be done by using the StartDoc API function. However, I can't figure out how to set the job title by API and do the printing of the image without using API but by using the Printer.PaintPicture method. Is this possible? Incomplete Print Jobs Using window.print()
Hi All, Has anyone run across the problem of an incomplete print job when using the print() method? I've got a page that I want the user to be able to print. The print link points to window.print(). But, when the job is done, only a portion of the page is printed. But, on screen, the complete page is intact. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Printing 4x6 prints
I'm using a HP 1210v printer and trying to print 4x6 photos. I know the printer will not print edge to edge, but I would like to get pretty close. I have tried several programs that indicate "4x6 card" size or "4x6 with tab", and no matter what I do, the photos come out about 3x5.I can get it to print near the top edge but always get about an inch blank at the bottom. I can live with the 3 width but would like to get closer to 6 long. I've tried with "Photo Impressions", "PSP 8" and "IrfanView" and get the same results with ...

Printing date on prints
I am trying to learn how to use a new Nikon D50 DSLR. In our city, triecentennial anniversary is going on yesterday and today. They tried to re-enact Spanish settler about 300 years ago. Beautiful Spanish costumes of men and women on horseback were everywhere and we can see banners that display coasts of arms. So I took some pictures and tried to print using a Canon printer. Pictures were gorgeous but I was not able to figure out how to print date stamp. With pictures taken with Sony P&S cameras, I used to print date. Does anybody know how to print date? John "...

How do I print borderless prints?
Hi. I'm trying to make borderless prints and not having any luck. I use Paint Shop Pro 8. I'm printing on an Epson 785EPX printer and using Epson Photo Paper, 4x6, non-perforated. No matter how I play with the settings, I get a border around the prints. I'm printing from digital pictures I took. I've tried from the original as it came out of the camera, at 2240 x 1488, and I also tried re-sizing to 640 x 480. Still no luck. I'm using a setting of "fit to page". The size is at 6.00 x 3.986 inches. Still a border. I'm wasting paper trying to get it right. Any id...

Printing with print servers
This question is a little off topic. I was experimenting from 5.0.6 to a Dlink DP300U print server. I found that I could telnet 10.200.200.99 9100, type some lines of text, close the connection and the text would be printed on the attached printer. The I tried the following: cat textfile | /usr/bin/netcat -h 10.200.200.99 -p 9100 Nothing printed and the printer did not indicate that any data was present. I am just wondering "why it not print?" Any clues?? Ron On Mon, 28 Jul 2003 08:44:15 -0500, "Ronald J Marchand" <rojomar@covad.net> wrote: >This quest...

print v. print()
I am learning Python from Hammond & Robinson's _Python Programming on Win32_, January 2000 edition. This print "Sleeping for 10 seconds" which appears in some example code, fails to... um... Compile? Interpret? Well, whatever the word is, it fails. Trial and error revealed that print("Sleeping for 10 seconds") does the trick. I am using version 3.1.2, presumably the book's authors used some earlier version. So why the change from print to print()? I should warn you that I know nothing about computers in general or Python in pa...

Send print job to 2 print devices simultaneously
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone out there could point me in the right direction for this problem : A customer wants to genereate a picking list from the accounts system, and have 2 copies printed off - but from 2 different printers. Both print devices will be local printers on their win2k print server. (print via TCPIP Print servers). There are 2 separate print queues configured, 1 for each printer. Both printers support PCL5. I do not have control over the source application, it will simply print 1 copy to 1 printer - but it could add basic control codes to the document if n...

PRINT@ vs PRINT`
Hi I'm at the moment converting some old cassettes. This is a rather slow process and there is one quirk I have come across. These are 500baud level II tapes, mostly basic programs. In some of these old basic programs PRINT@ is instead PRINT`, that is instead of @ (0x40) you get ` (0x60). This results in an SN error (Syntax) on a model I ROM basic and LDOS disk basic. On model III ROM basic it still lists PRINT` but it works. So it seems that the tapes are from a model III or 4. I wonder why ever is there this quirk, is it a bug (model III/4)? Those programs ar...

When printing
Greetings, Solidworks default behavior when printing a drawing file with multiple sheets is to print all the pages. In order to switch this, you must use the print dialog and select Pages radio set in the Print Range section of this dialog and choose the page(s) you want. Am I the only person that finds this extreamly bothersome? All other Windows based programs make the default behavior the current page selected, with the option to print all via the Print dialog. (I am thinking primarily of MS Excel). Does anyone know of a reg edit, or parameter to use with SW2004 that would change this...
