Write file properties of Windows file from Access application in VBA

Include files in access file
Hi, In /etc/aliases it is possible to use include files. Does anyone know if this is possible with the /etc/mail/access file? Using the access file we only accept mail for certain users and reject the rest of the domain. Obviously maintaining a single user list would be preferable across the three MX servers we run. If I could break the access file into single include files for each domain then it would make things much more easy to manage. I did write a Perl script which concatenated include files into one access file and then SCP'ed this to other servers but this is not ideal as at...

Code: writing file with unicode content using unicode file name in visual basic
I'm posting this here so that other people that want to do the same thing do not have to do as much trial and error programming as I had to do. The following code is very simple, it constructs some string to use as content and file name. The string contains Unicode code points for some Cyrillic capital letters, just to test that Unicode works. Just out this code in a new Module in Visual Basic and run the project: Sub main() Dim sContent As String Dim fileName As String Dim oFSO As Object Dim oTextStream As Object ' Unicode code points, U+NNNN ' CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER A Dim U0410 As String ' CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER VE Dim U0412 As String ' CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER DE Dim U0414 As String ' CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER PE Dim U041F As String ' CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER ER Dim U0420 As String ' Create each unicode character U0410 = ChrW(&H410) U0412 = ChrW(&H412) U0414 = ChrW(&H414) U041F = ChrW(&H41F) U0420 = ChrW(&H420) ' The file name can contain unicode too fileName = "c:\" & _ "TRUTH" & "_" & U041F & U0420 & U0410 & U0412 & U0414 & U0410 & _ ".txt" ' "Truth" in capital letter in English and Russian sContent = "TRUTH" & vbCrLf & U041F & U0420 &...

Visual Basic to access .csv file from ftp and add data to SQL
Hi. I have some experience in VB but am completely new in SQL. I have a VB project involving SQL to be completed in 5 days. I really hope you can at least give me some ideas to shorten my developement's struggles to meet the deadline. My VB program will access a text file (*.csv) from ftp in which the file is in the format of a1,b1,c1,d1,e1,f1,a2,b2,c2,d2,e2,f2,...... in which there will be 246 columns in a line separated by commas. Each 6 columns are 1 group. So, there will be 41 groups in a line. The number of lines of the text file can go up to 60000 lines. The VB program will read the text file, extract and manipulate the data. Then, the manipulated data will be added to SQL database. The VB program needs to do the abovementioned tasks once daily. Below are my questions: 1) How can i access a file from the ftp directory? The info given to me is that the location of the text file is ftp://192.168.1.15/Folder1/FileName.csv user id: USER password: USER I dont know how i can include the "user id" and "password" into my VB program to access the file in ftp. 2) For the File I/O of the *.csv file i mentioned above, how can i know where are the (i) "end of line" of each line & (ii) "end of file" ? 3) Any quick notes for me to pick up SQL to be used in VB? Or any good resources for me to kick start? Any help is highly appreciated as my due date is approaching real soon, Thanks a lot. Leng "NewBie" <albertcslen...

Thanks in Advance for yr help in this regard. kind regards, Umer Assuming the file exists on the as400, use CA to download the file first and select create FDF option. Opening MLM (Groupwise emails) files using Visual Basic/MS Access
Anyone know how to do this? I've created a CreateObject("NovellGroupWiseSession") object but don't know what to do after that. I'd like to have it open in just one screen so the user can see the email. I've read about a qvp32.exe to 'quick view' the email but I cannot find that executable on my machine. Iteration through File.file? misses entries for which File.file?(entry) == true
Hello everyone, I'm new to Ruby, so I'm most likely making an elementary mistake. However, searching Google didn't help me find my answer, and after mucking around with irb I still haven't figured it out. I wrote a method that was intended to take all of the files in a given directory and put them into an array. Here's the code I wrote: def getFiles(dir) pwdFiles = Array.new Dir.foreach(dir) do |entry| pwdFiles.push(entry) if File.file?(entry) == true end end This works fine when called on the working directory --- that is, getFile...

write file + input file + write file
Hi, I want to write some latex command to a file (file1), input the file at the end of the document. These command shall write to another file (file2) and at a second run I use the file2. Whatever I have tried nothing works and I don't known why. The goal is to save a set of special commands and run them at the end of the document, because they use some values which are only available at the end! Can anybody please help me with that? Thanks in advance! I should be something like: \begin{document} \usepackage{style} \input{file2} %file exists from a previous run \end{document} style.sty: \newwrite\fileone \openout\fileone=file1.out \newwrite\filetwo \openout\filetwo=file2.out \newcommand{\writetofiletwo}[1]{% \write\filetwo{#1}% } \newcommand{\writetofileone}[1]{% \write\fileone{\writetofiletwo{some text}}% } \AtEndDocument{\closeout\fileone% \input{file1}% \closeout\filetwo% } Problem solved :-) \immediate\closeout before \input was required. greenux wrote: > Hi, > I want to write some latex command to a file (file1), input the file > at the end of the document. notepad file to ms-access compatible file
Hi, I am having lots of records in *.txt format. I want to extract some of data from notepad file and arrange it in a tabular form, so i can use it in MS-Access. I just want to know will i be able to do it directly in MS-Access, or I need some program at backhand. And if I need a program can anyone suggest which language will be better. As I have not use MS-Access i don't any idea about features of MS Access. ok bye You can do this directly in Access. If the file is pretty much in a tabular layout, this will be easy. However, there maybe "clutter" in your txt file. I would start with the import wizard and set it up for the section(s) of the file that you want. You can save that profile and repeat the process in the future. Good luck. hey thanks, can u suggest some good book for MS-Access. i have never use ms-access. I took an intro to MS-Access course back in 1996. Now I am certified my Microsoft. MS-Access for dummys is good in respect that it takes you through the basics. Once you get pretty good at it, you'll find that book pretty useless. Que books are very good. However, they give you LOTS of detail about a particular subject even if you are not interested in all that detail. They tend to be very wordy as well. Unifying files and no files.
Is there an idiom that folds the no-files case into the files-exist case so they can be handled with a single mechanism? $ bash --version GNU bash, version 3.1.17(1)-release (i486-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc. $ ls $ chmod a-x * chmod: cannot access `*': No such file or directory $ I could do this $ chmod a-x * 2>/dev/null $ but that just hides the error; there are still two cases (the exit status tells the tale). I could do this $ chmod a-x * 2>/dev/null ; : $ but that's more hiding. This works $ files=$(find . -type f) $ [ -z "$files" ] || chmod a-x $files $ and is, I suppose, good documentation, but it's too much machinery. This problem is similar to handling zero-iteration loops in programs, but it's irratating that $ for i in * ; do chmod a-x $i ; done chmod: cannot access `*': No such file or directory $ doesn't work. Anything else? R. Why not FILE instead of FILE*?
Why is the standard C type for file handles FILE* instead of FILE? AFAIK the type FILE is a pre-defined typedef for some other type anyway. So why not make it instead a typedef for a *pointer* to that type? For one thing, that would stop people trying to poke around at the insides of a FILE. For another, it could allow for cases where the "real" type behind FILE is not a pointer to anything. -- /-- Joona Palaste (palaste@cc.helsinki.fi) ------------- Finland --------\ \-- http://www.helsinki.fi/~palaste --------------------- rules! --------/ "It sure is cool having money and c...
