::: Data Conversion - CLARION DOS v2.1 to CLARION v5.5

I have several Clarion DOS v2.1 DOS data files with keys - .DAT and .KXX
files respectively - that I'd like to convert over to Clarion 5.5

How would I go about converting this data?

Hi Kevin,

Clarion 5.5 will read and write Clarion DOS v2.109 .dat files just fine.
If the files are from a version earlier than v2.109 then deleting the key
(.kxx) files and opening the files in Clarion 5.5 should convert them for
you. The changes are in the keys.

Hi Kevin,

Greg is right - leaving them in the Clarion data format is fine. We've done
this a fiar bit when migrating dos apps to windows - we leave the data
strucutres "untouched". This allows for both Dos & windows programs to work
at the same time, and makes for a very smooth change-over.

After that you can use File Manager 3 (www.capesoft.com) to painlessly
convert it to any of the other structures that clarion offers.

cheers
Bruce

George,

Just be cautious if you do this and must read the files with V2.109
again - I don't believe the keys built this way are readable with
V2.109.

Expanding data
Hi, Using Access 2000 on a 2000 Workstation. Need to get data that's been entered as "Wks: 2-6, 8-11" (for example) into the format: "2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11", and finally into a checkbox format (ie each column has a number above it, and a corresponding tickbox), but I can probably get that checkbox bit done myself. Anyhoo, What's going to be the best way to do this? I'm struggling to find a method to do this. Then do a second pass through the list of tokens. If the token(n) is numeric then check whether token(n+1) is another number. If so add the value of token(n) to your list and increment n. If token(n+1) is a "-" then extract token(n+2) and add every number betwee...

Mutt 1.5.5 ported to DOS
Hello, I would first like to say, that after extensive rooting through the source code and patches and info on the net, I have mutt working pretty well under DOS - using the tcpip stack from wattcp-32. For SMTP service, I am using the simple SMTP mutt patch. I also have NNTP patched in and an etc/mailcap installed. I am using both local and remote folders. There still seem to be two nagging problems. The first one is serious and I hope that someone can point me into the right area of the source code to fix it. When I CREATE a message and add a file attachemnt of any size, that file is truncated to blank with a few binary chars in the background. It is truncated BOTH in the local 'sentmail' copy, as well as the reciever's copy. Is this being caused by some failure in uuencoding? Where is the block(s) of code that perform that task? In fact, the problem may occurr with the file association somehow, I notice even after attaching a 200K excel sheet, the status bar is still telling me: [Approx. msg size: 0.1K Atts: 2] ...before I send the message (it should probably be reporting about 200K immediately after the file is attached, or?) I think I need to trap and dump the results of the file attachemnt/sending at different stages to isolate my problem, as quite a few source files have been slightly changed from their original state ;-) Of course, recieving mail and saving binary attachments locally seems to work fine :-) ...

5.1-5 is not equal to .1 ?
Hi all... I'm using LabVIEW 8.5, When i tried to compare the result of difference of 5.1 and 5 (i.e 5.1-5) with .1&nbsp;, the result was not equal. I used DBL representation. Why is this so...? Your computer is binary, your number system is decimal. There will be rounding problems, using floating numbers for equality will get you into trouble. You should do an in range check of 0.1 +- 0.1 % or so. See <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floating_point#Accuracy_problems" target="_blank">wikipedia </a>for more info. Ton You could also multiply both input nuimbers by 10, convert them into integers, subtract them and test to see if the difference is equal to 1. Mike... ...

Labview 5.1 to 8.5 conversion error message
Hello We have some old&nbsp; VIs made with Labview 5.1 on Windows NT 2000.&nbsp; We are trying to back up our system and want to transfer those VIs to a new laptop which has Labview 8.5 and works on Vista. As per your suggestion to someone on a similar problem, i saved the VI in Labview 6 version and then opened it using 8.5 version.&nbsp; A warning appears as follows- Please explain is this a serious warning or should i just ignore it? If it is serious, how to open my VI in 8.5 without getting this warning? &nbsp; "globals305.vi&nbsp; Front Panel&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; - Function (0:V DC) uses data range coercion, which now only applies to data entry; values will not be coerced when passed to subVIs.&nbsp; To coerce passed values,&nbsp; use the In Range and Coerce function.keithley2000portopen.vi&nbsp; Front Panel&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; - Serial Port (9600,7,E,2).Baud Rate [5:9600] uses data range coercion, which now only applies to data entry; values will not be coerced when passed to subVIs.&nbsp; To coerce passed values,&nbsp; use the In Range and Coerce function." In older versions of LabVIEW, when you set the non-default input limits for a numeric and an input was coerced to be within the limits, it was coerced when the input was changed from the front panel or when passed to it from a calling VI. ANNOUNCE: Mutt 1.5.5 Email Client for DOS / Windows / DJGPP
Mutt 1.5.5 for DOS / Windows / DJGPP has been released and is available from the programming page of http://www.caddit.net . Mutt is a small but very powerful text-based mail client for Unix operating systems. This release has incorperated modified patches for NNTP, POP and SMTP ('builtin' sendmail) and calls to external apps (i.e. 'print', 'pipe message' and 'pipe attachment') work for the most part. Direct IMAP support is also included, although it is recommend to use an external IMAP client like 'isync'. A sample %DJDIR%/etc/_muttrc is included. Change to taste. MuttD is a DOS-DJGPP implementation of this package, and it is downloadable from the CADD-IT network ( http://www.caddit.net ). It has been build using WATTCP-32 R8 (available at http://www.bgnett.no/~giva/ ) and requires a DOS packet driver to run. For those using DJGPP under NT or WIN32 I recommend trying/buying/installing NDIS3Pkt available at http://www.danlan.com/ . You can get a sample wattcp.cfg from http://www.bgnett.no/~giva/ for setting up Wattcp on your DOS system if you have not already done so. One is *not included* in this package. The modified sources are also being made available. There were many modifications and hacks, most notibly bypassing the 'mutt_create_filter' and 'mutt_create_filter_fd' functions for reading or writing messages or attachments to/from external processes. I know that they are a bit hackish, so please don't both...

Hi! I have data of water consumption every 15 minute during 31 days. I would like to have hourly water consumption for my simulation model. Now I have four measured value for every hour. How I could easily sum every fourth values in the data vector in order to have hourly values? Java 1.5 on AIX 5.1?
Is there such a thing as a Java 1.5 JRE that will run on AIX 5.1? The most recent Java SDK that would run on AIX 5.1 that I could find on the IBM web site was 1.4. Am I looking in the wrong place? Unfortunately, we need to stick with AIX 5.1 on this particular machine, as we are using it for building and testing software that is intended to run on 5.1. Migrating users from 5.1 to 5.1
Hi, I am replacing a server which has AIX 5.1.0.0 with another server with the same OS. Does anyone out there know how I can copy the users across without having to recreate them all. I found a URL which describes doing the same from 3.2 to 4.1 or 4.2. It gives a list of files to copy (ie /etc/passwd, /etc/group and more file from /etc/security) and then a few commands to run (usrck -t ALL, pwdck -t ALL, grpck -t ALL). I am afraid to try it on 5.1. Does anyone have a definitive on what to do? Regards, Adrian Doyle. U´┐Żytkownik "Adrian Doyle" <adoyle@kerridge.ie> napisa´┐Ż ...
