Cobol for Mac OS X?

Does anyone know of a Cobol compiler for Mac OS X?

I have a friend who has a Mac that wants to learn Cobol programming
and I can't seem to find any products that can build targets for the
Mac.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[ace-announce] ACE+TAO+CIAO x.6.1 now available
Hi all, Thanks to the efforts of many developers, testers, and users, we are pleased to announce the latest ACE+TAO+CIAO x.6.1 release, which is a "bug fix only" (BFO) release that corrects defects found with the x.6 release but adds no new functionality, thereby ensuring stability. The x.6.1 release is available from the same download location as per the previous x.6 release at http://download.dre.vanderbilt.edu/ under the heading "Latest BFO Beta". The doxygen documentation for the release is also available. The prebuild cidlc binaries will be availabl...

New Cobol compiler written in Cobol
I am considering the development of a Cobol compiler itself written in Cobol. Please don't flame me over the perceived stupidity of such a choice, I think it is a better idea than a language that cannot compile itself. I do believe obviously that there is enough power in the language to implement a COBOL compiler using the COBOL language. After all, a compiler is simply a program to translate text from a source into a target. We're not talking rocket science or brain surgery here. I believe there is money to be made with a good inexpensive Cobol compiler which is available ...

Strange problem: Sessions resetting using SSL, Apache 2.0.4x, PHP 4.x.x and RedHat 9.0
I'm running Apache 2.0.47, PHP 4.3.3 on RedHat 9.0 on a new server. I have a series of pages that let's say pages 1 -> 3 are non-ssl and 4-8 are SSL but the URL domain is different (shared SSL). The client clicks through them from one to another in order using forms and URLs with GET vars. The client starts a non-ssl session on pg. 1 using www.mydomain.com. When they get to pg. 3, a hyperlink with an SSL URL and session ID as a GET var, they click on it to get to pg 4 which is now under https://secure ..hostingdomain.com/mydomain.com/pg4.php?PHPSESSIONID=kjsfhljdhfakdjhfladk...

Connecting to another Mac in Panther
I just upgraded to Panther, and I love it. And I would like to add that I had not one ounce of trouble during the upgrade. I didn't have to reformat the drive, I didn't have to log in as root, and I didn't have to cross my fingers and pray. I didn't even archive and install, I just upgraded. It all worked very smoothly. Just thought I'd share that. My question has to do with connecting to another Mac. In Jaguar, all I had to do was Cmd + K to connect to another server. The box that appeared showed me all the Macs (and PCs) available to me to connect to. That was great. Now...

Question: Adding DVD Writer To Older Mac.
I can't seem to find these answers through Google. I have an 8500 with a G3/300 processor card. I'd like to add a DVD writer, but can't find out if there are any minimum requirements for each of the three ways I might interface it: 1) Buy a Mac-compatible IDE card and hook up the writer internally; 2) Buy a USB 2.0 card and an external case; 3) Buy a Firewire card and an external case. I like option 2 the best, as USB cards are quite cheap and available on eBay, extrnal cases aren't too expensive, and it would be portable if I ever want to share it with a PC. (Mac-compatible...

Changing to a mac
I'm toying with the idea of sellilng my Pentium IV running XP and buying an G5 iMac. The only concern is transferring my files and photgraphs across from the PC to the new iMac. Can anyone tell me if I will experience any problems with the following: 1 Photographs, mainly in jpeg formatt but some tiff and gif. 2 Files generated by MS Works. I know it is available for the Mac, but I wouldn't be able to afford it. But I do need to access these files. Can OS X read them? 3 I guess I'll need a firewall and virus checker. Having difficulty with sscanf on my Mac
I can't seem to get sscanf to work for some odd reason on my Macbook Pro. The following code: sscanf(string, "%f", &double_var); Doesn't do as expected. According to gdb, double_var goes from 0.0 (where I initialized it) to 5.14...e-315 (a number so small, it is essentially zero.) Even if I use a string literal: sscanf("123.456789", "%f", &double_var); I get similar results---a tiny number that is basically equivalent to zero. Any thoughts? Anyone else run into this? Tracy, The error you're getting is "101" which DUPLICATE TEMPORARY FILE NAME (FSERR 101) Perhaps you need to specify a different file equation for the 2nd open to indicate ",OLDTEMP" so that when it opens it opens the same file (it's probably defaulting to ",NEW" in both so the 2nd CLOSE fails.
