It is not an emergency yet.
Were it actual emergency, you wouldn't be able to read this.

Beginner -- Applet problems
I am a beginner programmer just starting to learn Java. Can someone tell me what is wrong with this applet? The output is: Circumference is 47.1225 Area is 176.70938 Volume is 1767.0938 I don't think that is the correct value of the volume because it is exactly 10 times the area. What went wrong and also, is there an easier way to square or cube a number? Thanks, Josh //Calculates circumference, area of circle and volume of sphere based on a radius import java.awt.*; import java.applet.Applet; public class Calculations extends Applet { public void paint(Gr...

Java applets and access to other "clients"!
Hi, I hope someone here can help me :) I wish to make a java-applet that can communicate with another client which have downloaded the same applet. The java security in default makes this impossible, the applets can only send data to the server they where downloaded from. I have heard that the applets have more access if they are downloaded from a https, or the applet can ask the computer to get more access, but I have not suceeded to do this. getting stuff out of an applet?
I'm an utter newbie to java, but I'm curious where to look for information on more or less "scraping" applets. I found a site that says applet output goes to "system console" on OSX, but since I'm on Linux that's not real helpful. I'm perfectly willing to read up on this instead of bothering you; does anyone know where to start looking? Depends on the browser you are viewing the applet in, not the OS. In Mozilla, just use the menu. Tools -> Web Development -> Java Console I also use linux. If you use the "Applet viewer" you...

Release: Appleteer
Appleteer - applet test tool is released for public use. "Never fear, Appleteer is here!" <http://pscode.org/appleteer/> Appleteer is an applet test tool that has a couple of nice extras over Sun's own AppletViewer, including in built logging, easy access to the output and log, and support for multiple applets. It can be run as an application, webstart application, or (very soon) an applet. Hope it is of some use to those debugging applets, as well as anyone attempting to assist in such endeavors. Bug reports and RFEs welcome. Note: Cross-posted to comp.lang.java.hel...

Applications vs. Applets for beginning Java student
I am a beginning Java student( < 6 months) and I wanted to ask what should I be concentrating on after learning some of the fundamentals of the language. Since almost everything today is graphical and windowed in nature, should I be working more on learning how to write applets and Swing apps, or should I stick with the console type apps that most beginning Java books/tutorials seem to utilize so much ? Which do people feel is easier to work with(applets or Swing)and which provides more flexibility. Also, should I be working to develop my own ideas/programs from scratch or should I be l...

Non-existant URLs
Hi folks Say I type a non-existant URL; for example, "http://www.jksfdjiteui4wtknfsjkfzuisfz.com". When I do that, from a PC in Australia, I get an instant error that the URL does not exist. The delay is imperceptible. I feel that there has not been enough time to send a query right back through to a root server. So, how is it /known/ that the URL does not exist? Or am I wrong in assuming that a query right back through to a root server, should take at least a few seconds? TIA, TC <aatcbbtccctc@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:d8210d$2vhu$1@sf1.isc.or...
