Krishna Tyner of Sun's "spam"

  • Follow

I received this email from Krishna Tyner about his ad for Sun hardware
in the Java newsgroups.

Hi, David, Michael, Hamilcar and Roedy-

I read your responses to my posting to the
c.l.j.softwaretools usergroup. First, let me apologize
for offending all of you. It was never my intention to
alienate or offend members of this group. I realize that
this is a software community and I was too loose in my
judgement when I made the decision to post hardware
announcements to all of you. I'll use more discretion in
the future.

Second, let me introduce myself. I do actually work for Sun
and my name really is Krishna Tyner--there's no shrouding
going on, I promise.

One of my jobs is to communicate big Sun news, product
announcements and key events to our online communities.
Typically, these annoucements are well received. Other
times, they incite controversy or disagreement, especially
if the announcement isn't well targeted to a certain group.
Again, for the latter I apologize and will be more careful.

Finally, my intent is to open a productive dialogue, build
community relationships and, hopefully, more closely tie Sun's
customers to the company. But, I'm a marketing gal (not a guy,
as was suggested in this thread ;) and not very technical,
so I'm getting the picture that some editing needs to
happen to be more effective. I'll be sure to do that.

So, my promise to all of you is to give you just-the-facts
when I post, eliminate the marketing fluff, and I want to
invite you all to email me directly if you feel I could be
doing something better--that type of open communication
is what I'm ultimately aiming for.

Thanks for the opportunity to respond and I hope to
begin a more friendly, productive dialogue with you all
in the future.

Krishna Tyner
