Why the "Java toturial" on sun.com can't be accessible online

A few days ago, I still can access the content of "java tutorial" on
the sun.com website. But today, the link for accessing content has been
redirected to the "buy the book" page.... It really sucks!

Has anyone downloaded that document before? It will be appreciated if
you can send me a copy. Thanks very much. My email box is lianliming AT
gmail DOT com. Thanks in advance!

The one by Peter Van Der Linden? I thought it had disappeared more
than a year or two ago, it was 'buy the book' at Sun when I last
checked.

Does your browser cache web pages? You might be able to haul bits
of it (you have visited lately) out of the cache.

Really? I am sure I have studied on that document online at sun.com for
half a year in 2005. Anyway, I have found that document at other place.
Thanks for reply!

Every thing has returned normal, including tutorials, as of 13:55 JST
21 Oct. 2005.

Try everyone.

I had a similar problem. I sent the webmaster an email via their
contact form. The Swing tutorial like in the JDK 1.5.0_05 link is
broken.

Until Sun sorts this out, google on "xxxx tutorial java" and you will
find mirror sites.

It's all back to normal now. Did this look like a broken server, or a deliberate
re-vamp of the site with the Tutorial removed?

I use the online tutorial regularly. It's a great resource for reminding you of
how to perform tasks which you don't use regularly. If it disappears we'll have
lost a valuable resource.

Time for a quick wget of the pages...

Apart from a few of the older and more specialised trails, you can
download the tutorial in Zip format:

Since the official JavaDocs for all sorts of APIs bristle with links to the
tutorial, I doubt if it'll be going away anytime soon[*]...
