SCOPE AND TOPICS
The goal of the International Conference on Performance Engineering (ICPE) =
is to integrate theory and practice in the field of performance engineering=
by providing a forum for sharing ideas and experiences between industry an=
d academia. Nowadays, complex systems of all types, like Web-based systems,=
data centers and cloud infrastructures, social networks, peer-to-peer, mob=
ile and wireless systems, cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things, r=
eal-time and embedded systems, have increasingly distributed and dynamic sy=
stem architectures that provide high flexibility, however, also increase th=
e complexity of managing end-to-end application performance.
ICPE brings together researchers and industry practitioners to share and pr=
esent their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art an=
d in-progress research on performance engineering of software and systems, =
including performance measurement, modeling, benchmark design, and run-time=
performance management. The focus is both on classical metrics such as res=
ponse time, throughput, resource utilization, and (energy) efficiency, as w=
ell as on the relationship of such metrics to other system properties inclu=
ding but not limited to scalability, elasticity, availability, reliability,=
and security.

CALL FOR TUTORIALS
ICPE enhances the experience of attending researchers and industry practiti=
oners through a Tutorial Track led by renowned scientists and practitioners=
in the fields of relevance for the ICPE community. Topics of interest incl=
ude, but are not limited to, performance measurement, performance modeling,=
benchmarking, and run-time performance management of complex systems of al=
l types.
Proposals are welcomed for tutorials at introductory, intermediate, and adv=
anced skill-levels, that either span a full day (6 hours, two breaks includ=
ed), or a half-day (3 hours, one break included).
More information can be found at https://icpe2017.spec.org/submissions/tuto=
rials.html

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The tutorial proposal (maximum 5 pages) should describe concisely the conte=
nt, importance and timeliness of the tutorial. It should include the follow=
ing information:
- Title;
- 150 to 200-word abstract describing the tutorial, that is suitable for in=
clusion on the conference website;
- Contact information (name, e-mail, affiliation) and a brief biography (up=
to 200 words) of the presenter(s);
- Proposed duration (half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours));
- Intended audience skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and any =
prerequisite knowledge required;
- Outline of the tutorial (overall goal and concrete objectives, teaching m=
ethod and structure);
- The link between the tutorial and the ICPE topics of interest (a sentence=
or paragraph);
- If appropriate, a description of past versions of the tutorial should be =
provided. It should be indicated where the tutorial has been given (venue, =
date, number of attendees) and how it will be modified for ICPE 2017.
Submissions can be made at the following link, selecting the ICPE 2017 Tuto=
rial track:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=3Dicpe2017
Authors of accepted tutorial proposals are expected to prepare a set of sli=
des to be distributed to participants, including a bibliography pertinent t=
o the tutorial. The camera-ready set of slides should be submitted as a PDF=
file with two slides per page.
Proposers of accepted tutorials will be given the opportunity to also submi=
t a tutorial paper, which will appear in the conference proceedings. The co=
ntent of a tutorial paper must be on the material covered by the tutorial a=
nd must not exceed 4 pages in size using the ACM format. Further instructio=
ns on the tutorial paper will follow.
