"All these posts to display the alphabet? "
SIlly me! I thought it was a game where the current response was a function of the previous (Lorenz would be proud of us :smileywink: )
I'm still trying (like Ray) to figure what the proper response to tst's "97.7" is supposed to be. I was thinking octothorpe but now I am not sure.

Hey,
HONORIFICABILITUDINITATIBUS is the longest word consisting entirely of alternating vowels and consonants.
UNITED A R A B E M I R A T E S is the longest name of a country consisting of alternating vowels and consonants.
The shortest word containing all five vowels exactly once is the six-letter EUN OIA, meaning alertness of mind an will (and also the title of a book by Canadian poet Christian Bok). However, it is not included in any major English dictionary. There are several seven-letter words containing all the vowels, including S E Q UOIA, EUL O G IA, M IAOUED , A D OUL IE, EUC O S IA, EUN O M IA, EUT O P IA, M OIN EAU, and D OUL EIA. The relatively common French word OIS EAU (meaning bird) contains all five vowels, once each.
{ Dialogue contains all vowels}
Thanks,
Mathan

Dear Halemani,
Try the following as Ravens Fan and JLV suggested in this thread itself....
Attach the image to your message.
Post the message.
Right click on the attachment and select properties.
Copy the link to the image shown to your clip board. It will point to a location on the NI web servers.
Edit your message by going to the options dropdown to the upper right of the message (you have 10 minutes to do this)
Click the Insert image button with the yellow box icon.
Paste in the link that is in your clipboard.
Submit the message again.
Or really easy method. Locate your desired icon in the icon thread. Right-Click on it. select copy
Go to your reply page and Ctrl-V (paste). You see it right away.. <img src="http://forums.ni.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif" border="0" height="16" width="16">

And if you are just interested in posting emoticons in you post then the code (LV 8.2) posted in <a href="http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=BreakPoint&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=4672#M4672" target="_blank">reply #94 of this thread </a>will choos an emoticon by clicking tis icon and copy the correct URL into your clipboard. That URL can just be copied into the insert image dilog box.

That's not entirely accurate. The first written language was cuneiform, developed by the Sumerians c. 3000 BC

The first written language was developed in Greece long before 5000 BC. "GRAMMIKI A"
I don't know how it is called in English.
But it was not an alphabetic language. (like cuneiform)
The first alphabet with the form we now know, in all the common languages, was the one i wrote.
alphabet = the first two letters in Greek alphabet "ALPHA", "BETA"

He said alphabet...but that's really not correct either, the semitic workers of the ancient egyptians used the principles of hieroglyphs to make the first alphabets, which the greeks/latins modeled theirs after in creating theirs...Message Edited by TWGomez on 05-07-2008 07:58 AM

It is called "Linear A" and/or "Linear B", dating from 8th or 9th century BC.
They found caveman "writing" before that though...
Yeah Greek is the ancestor of MOST common alphabetic languages, but since they got their ideas from the Egyptians (and their semetic workers) Greek really only modified and popularized the current "Alpha Beta" form (thanks to the Greeks/Romans ruling the world for sevaral hundred years) :D

True !

Not True. The path was "Linear A" >> "Linear B" >> "First alphabet" (all in Greece)
The "hieroglyphs" was at the same time with "Linear A", from the Egyptians , but it did not developed to an alphabet, (only after the Greek one)

Yes it did...Alphabets began in ancient Egypt...

You must Greek since you think they made the world :P Greeks just used thiers ideas, modified it/improved it, then made it popular (by forcing the people they conquered to use it).

A. Attach the image to your message.
B. Post the message.
C. Right click on the attachment and select properties.
D. Copy the link to the image shown to your clip board. It will point to a location on the NI web servers.
E. Edit your message by going to the options dropdown to the upper right of the message (you have 10 minutes to do this)
F. Click the Insert image button with the yellow box icon.
G. Paste in the link that is in your clipboard.
H. Submit the message again.
You must do steps A and B in that order. Attach means add to the message in the spot below the editor window. Not in the body of the message. You don't touch that yellow image icon until step F.
You must attach the image so that it gets uploaded to the NI webservers where everyone will have access to it. Once you submit the message in step B. The file is there and it will have a web address to the file assigned to it.
In a link that works in your message Halemani, the link is <a href="http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/130/3836/1/fire.gif" target="_blank">http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/130/3836/1/fire.gif</a> which is a file on the NI webserver. Your link that doesn't work is <a href="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/user/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg" target="_blank">file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/user/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg</a> which is your hard drive.

No offense at all... we just talking....
" Sometimes a good old book, counts more than millions of bytes. "
What i mean is that many times the online encyclopedias have errors. For many thinks.
They have a huge amount of information, which a book can not have. Although a book is the result of many years work, for good authors, and they are more reliable. Sometimes is the result of their whole life effort.
Note the "good authors", which is very hard to find in nowadays. Of course, I don't mean in science books.
As for "i had the same opinion with you": when i was younger i had been tought that "Alphabets began in ancient Egypt"

Gotchya ;)
Well books have errors too, I find more often than encyclopedias, especially wikipedia...Books often inject personal opinion and biases of the writter and can not be "actively" disputed in the context of what was published. The great thing about wikipedia is that those people that have dissenting opinions can post their references in arguement over what was posted, thus making it a level field for all opinions/resources and references. So I tend to beleive wikipedia :D PLUS Wikipedia (and enclopedias in general) get their information from other books...Note the references section of the page I linked...the information was gathered from about 16 different books...
None of it seems too hard to beleive to me :D
;) The hard thing about history is that it's always changing ;)

True
TWGomez wrote:

That is why i said "good authors". People who have their lifes deticated in history
There are many Labview programmers, but only few who really knows what they are doing, when things go difficult.
The same stands for everyrthing. There many books, only a few good authors. Half the job is to find them... the other half to read them..
Specialy history books, many times are written to serve other perposes... not history itself.
I have done a really big search, and i have many books in my library.
I am not trying to persuade you, that is really big discussion... just keep an open mind... :smileywink:

"Hasta la vista, baby" is a famous line from the movie "Terminator 2" with Arnold Schwazenegger. He played the terminator, model 101 to be specific...So now go re-read the post, it may make more sense...

Spiderman 2 was good...but 3....what happened??
Transporter anyone?? First one was sooooo gooooooooddd....then they went nuts...

I agree... most sequels should never be made..
And they are often not written by the original authors.
Lord of the Rings and The Matrix had excellent sequels... although they were actually more the continuation of the same story..
Terminator 2 was probably my favorite. :)

Lord of the Rings DEFINETELY, they were based off books though, so it made it a bit easier :D
Harry Potter is another example of good sequels, but again, based off books...derned cheaters :P
Then Aliens (sequel of Alien) ROCKED, but then went sour...so sad...That's when they lost James Cameron though...Terminator 3 was made after James Cameron sold the rights to that as well, but it somehow turned out good...
Matrix not so much...they lost some of their edge and creativity with the story, they got a little predictable and cliche' ...still pretty OK compared to many though....loved the big robots shooting everything down :D

Yeah... I forgot about Alien. Shame about the last one (Resurection?) which was not as good.
Started watching it a couple of weeks ago, and my wife wasn't impressed about the lunch ;)
It's the DVD with lots of addons, so I'll get her to watch how it was made first LOL!
Yeah.. Harry Potter is good also. It's better when the whole story exists ahead of time.
What about Rocky? I'm not a fan.. And the thought of a 60yr old boxer doesn't make sense..

Some of the Rocky's were pretty good. All but 3 & 5.
I watched the last one, and I thought it was pretty decent...
Not much different than when Forman came out of retirement :D A little bit out there though...he just had to make up for 5 though :P
speaking of Aliens....The first AVP was GREAT, watched the second one a few weeks ago...had HIGH hopes, but it stunk...

Of all the sequal movies, I thought Star Wars had the best sequals by far. Some were better than the original. Did it also have the most (original + 5 sequals)? I thought Episode I was the best of all (the third sequal).

Definetely NOT better than the originals, but Episode ! was better than it got credit for...PLUS it had Ray Park which gives it bonus points in my opinion...He plays Snake Eyes in the new GI Joe movie :D I'll see it just for him :D

I nearly walked out of the theatre when I saw Jar-Jar Bing (whatever its' name is... Sci-Fi Goofy character). :p

I have to say that this thread forced me to discover the opportunity to unsubscribe from receiving info-emails about threads I posted into. To receive more than 30 emails of totally useless thread after weekend ...grrr.
Anyway this small rebellion rocks! I hope you all know that <a href="http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=122178&query.id=27029#M122178" target="_blank">LabVIEW was used for Star Wars Episode III</a>

You can do this on a thread-by-thread basis. When viewing the thread, if you've posted into it, pull down the "Thread Options" menu and select "Remove this thread from my subscription". Of course, if you post into it again, you'll need to do it again. Just like I'm about to...

I must be real goofy. Everybody hated Jar-Jar. I loved him. I thought the added comedy was an enjoyable twist to an otherwise serious plot. I also like to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants. So you see, I'm really a goof ball, or maybe I'm entering my second childhood. Probably will enter my third when I'm 70. Or maybe I never got out of my first.

LOL!! You guys are funny.. Spongebob... LOL!
I still enjoy watching the original 3 movies. I've seen the remaining chapters and the quality of the story (not the effects) went downhill with each episode. Lucas should have retired early ;)
Excellent special effects. Like the battle with Yoda.. :) The actors looked like actors and not their characters.. I didn't fell like I was watching a story, it was like watching a play about a story... no... not quite right. It wasn't that good... But that's just me.. ;)

Yeah... that was my favorite of the three.
It was the one with the ice planet.. And going to the Daboga (sp) system, right?.. With the hollow tree, and pulling his space-craft out of the water (marsh).
That was good. Was it the one where they visited Lando and Hans got frozen? I think so..
Time for me to watch it again... I think it's on Spike.. ;)

The Ice Planet (Hoth for future reference) is Empire Strikes Back. Degoba was Empire & Return of the Jedi, but mostly Epire Strikes Back. Luke goes back in Return of the Jedi (Originally named Revenge of the Jedi, hence my last post), but basically just sees Yoda die and leaves "When 900 years old you become, look as good you will not"

What's wrong with the swamp? I was born and raised in a swamp. And I didn't need no stinkin' Jedi to pull me out of the swamp.:smileywink:
Joe Labview, I think some of your cousins live the swamps of Louisiana, n'est pa?
