can't connect RT target in LabView project

Hello,

I use LabView Real Time 8.5 on a Desktop PC. I see the target in MAX in
which I can change the network settings of the target and use the FTP
without problem. But it's impossible to connect the target in a LabView
project.
The Log error of the target says :

Hi,
Thanks for posting on the National Instruments forum.
Have you checked if all the softwares a well installed on your target? In MAX, you explained that you can see you PXI target, so may you click on the software menu:

and then click on the "Add/Remove software" button to install all the softawres on your target. (It's recommanded to previously uninstall those already on the target).

After this checking and/or install, does it work?

Yes, I've started from a formatted disk with no software installed. Then I've installed only LabView Real Time and the Ethernet Drivers on the target. I precise that it's not a PXI but a Desktop PC. I precise too that I 've a dual core, and if I install the module for multiples core processors, there is a bog when LabView RT initializes the network connection, and it reboots automatically. So I let it in simple core...

Hello everybody. The problem is solved ! The reason of my problem is that LabView RT 8.5.0 does not support more than 2GB RAM installed on the computer, like it's describe in this document. Adjusting my RAM to GB permits the things that were not possible before : - to connect the target in a LabView Project and deploy some code.- to active the multiple core processor in the BIOS of the machineI precise that removing the USB keyboard is useful. Indeed with my keyboard plugged, when I install additional software like VISA Server for example, MAX do not recognize the target automatically, I have to add it manually specifying the IP address, and I cannot connect the target in a LV Project.Unplug the USB keyboard (and all other devices) solve this problem.Have a nice day...

GPIB instruments connected through Agilent USB/GPIB Interface can bee seen in MAX but can't communicate in labview
I have an Agilent 82357B USB/GPIB Interface connected to my computer. Attached to that, I have two lock-in amplifiers (an SR830, and an SR 850). I would like to be able to communicate with them through GPIB. I can right click on either of the instruments, and "Open VISA Test Panel" where I am successfully able to send commands and read from both devices. HOWEVER, when I am running an actual LabView program, I am unable to communicate with the devices. For example, when I try to communicate to the devices through VISA, using the 'Basic Serial Write and Read.vi' (while VISA Resource Name is GPIB0::12::INSTR), I get an error: Error -1073807331 occurred at Property Node (arg 2) in VISA Configure Serial Port (Instr)...

Re: LabVIEW and LabVIEW RT?
Hello Iman, I will try to illustrate it with an example since it all will depend on the type of application you would like to implement. Let's say you would like to implement an application where you log data, maybe exchange data with databases and you acquire a bunch of data points at a time not performing any type of control and where high determinism is not needed. In this case LabVIEW for Windows work great. If you on the other hand would like to implement a closed-loop application where you need high determinism and reliability and will acquire data point by point you would use LabVIEW RT which is an add-on to LabVIEW. I.e. you need LabVIEW + LabVIEW RT when developing an RT application. ...

Re: LabVIEW QA
Chroma, I am a little unclear about your question. You should be able to use BuildTargetBuildSpecification to build all or selected build specifications within a project. You could build a program to call this VI for different projects and build specifications. Are you looking to find out all builds present in a project, similar to how the other example you pointed too adds files? If so, have a look at the attached screen shot. This opens the project, gets all descendents of type "EXE" (application builds), and creates an array of their names. If you don't specify "EXE", it will return all project descendents (builds, VIs, libraries, etc...). The help for the "Get All Descendents" method lists other possible types that you can specify besides "EXE" that might be useful, such as "VI", "DLL", "Source Distribution" and "Installer".I hope that helps! builds.jpg: http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/170/286645/1/builds.jpg ...

Why windows layer can't connect to the RT system
Currently, we have developed the software including the windows layer, Real-Time(RT) layer and FPGA layer using cRIO. However, one problem occurs recently. It is the builded window layer software can't connect to the RT system in some PCs and it is working well in some other PCs. Our configuration: cRIO 9014 controller, RIO 2.1.3, Labview 8.2, Labview FPGA 8.2, Labview 8.2 Real-Time. What's wrong with our software?
