CORRECTION : Can't connect to Xserver SHOULD BE Can't connect to XVNCserver
I've got a RH 9 machine running, with x/kde.
From 2 different Windows machines (Win2k and Win98), I can't seem to
connect to the vncserver on the RH system. (failed to connect to
server is displayed, when I connect from the client)
After looking at the System Service Configuration tool in KDE, the
Status for vncserver shows "Xvnc is stopped". When I restart the vnc
service, "VNC server start was successful is displayed in a message
box, yet the staus still shows "Xvnc is stopped"
What am I doing wrong ?

I have an Agilent 82357B USB/GPIB Interface connected to my computer.
Attached to that, I have two lock-in amplifiers (an SR830, and an SR

I have downloaded and installed the software for the Agilent device
(Agilent IO Control), and I can see the interface and the two devices
in that software. Here's what is configured in this software, that I
- The VISA interface ID is GPIB0, and its address is 0
- The VISA addresses of the devices are GPIB0::4::INSTR and GPIB::12::INSTR, and the GPIB addresses are 4 and 12
In Measerment and Automation Explorer (MAX), I made sure that the
Passport for Tulip box was checked. Once it was, I could see the
devices in the Configuration window under Devices and Interfaces ->
Miscellaneous VISA Resources. There, I see GPIB0::INTFC, GPIB0::4::INSTR and GPIB::12::INSTR.
I can right click on either of the instruments, and "Open VISA Test
Panel" where I am successfully able to send commands and read from both
HOWEVER, when I am running an actual LabView program, I am unable to communicate with the devices.
For example, when I try to communicate to the devices through VISA,
using the 'Basic Serial Write and Read.vi' (while VISA Resource Name is
GPIB0::12::INSTR), I get an error:

I will try to illustrate it with an example since it all will depend on the type of application you would like to implement. Let's say you would like to implement an application where you log data, maybe exchange data with databases and you acquire a bunch of data points at a time not performing any type of control and where high determinism is not needed. In this case LabVIEW for Windows work great. If you on the other hand would like to implement a closed-loop application where you need high determinism and reliability and will acquire data point by point you would use LabVIEW RT which is an add-on to LabVIEW. I.e. you need LabVIEW + LabVIEW RT when developing an RT application.

I'm using a PCI-6221. I have configured a number of global virtual channels. However, when I try to access any of them in Labview, they are not there.

I just installed Labview 8.5 and I have a project to convert that uses Fieldpoint VIs. I can't figure out what to install to get Labview to recognize the VIs already embedded in the project. I have Instaled Fieldpoint 5.0, but I didn't see a selection for Labview 8.5 support.
I have the runtime engine for LV 8.5 installed on the target machine. I'm assuming I'll also have to install something for Fieldpoint..
Also, from what I read, it looks like the Fieldpoint Explorer has been integrated into Max? I will just be able to load my .iak file somehow?
Thanks for contacting National Instruments.
Guenter is right in that the Fieldpoint 5.0 drivers were released with a previous version of LabVIEW, and not the recent version, LabVIEW 8.5. The link he has provided to the Device Drivers from August 2007 is the only place to obtain the Fieldpoint 6.0 drivers without the CD that accompanies the actual hardware.
As far as what you have mentioned about .iak files, I think that you are referring to something that is explained <a href="http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C7127F390359977C8625730200716EE4?OpenDocument" target="_blank">here</a>. <a href="http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/2EF82CA062692F4886257325008067BC?OpenDocument" ...Re: LabVIEW QA
Chroma, I am a little unclear about your question. You should be able to use BuildTargetBuildSpecification to build all or selected build specifications within a project. You could build a program to call this VI for different projects and build specifications. Are you looking to find out all builds present in a project, similar to how the other example you pointed too adds files? If so, have a look at the attached screen shot. This opens the project, gets all descendents of type "EXE" (application builds), and creates an array of their names. If you don't specify "EXE", it will return all project descendents (builds, VIs, libraries, etc...). The help for the "Get All Descendents" method lists other possible types that you can specify besides "EXE" that might be useful, such as "VI", "DLL", "Source Distribution" and "Installer".I hope that helps!

Currently, we have developed the software including the windows layer, Real-Time(RT) layer and FPGA layer using cRIO. However, one problem occurs recently. It is the builded window layer software can't connect to the RT system in some PCs and it is working well in some other PCs.
Our configuration: cRIO 9014 controller, RIO 2.1.3, Labview 8.2, Labview FPGA 8.2, Labview 8.2 Real-Time.
What's wrong with our software? We have tried build the windows layer on the 2 PCs separatedly, however, the two builded softwares all just can connect to RT system in one PC and other PCs still can't connect with RT system.
We have using cRIO for a long time and this problem just occurs recently after we have updated our controller from 9004 to 9014 and RIO from 2.1.1 to 2.1.3.
The operation system in these two controller 9004 and 9014 are different. Is this the root cause of this problem? How to solve this problem?
Are the access rights correctly set in MAX? (Are they the same for all PC's)
The builded software ought to be avaiable to connect to the RT system for all PCs even not install Labview, isn't it?
In that case, it should has not relationship with the MAX setting, right?
MAX is used to configure the cRIO driver. cRIO driver installation installs MAX. For a deployed system you require:The RIO driver. The LV run-time.MAX for configuration of the HW and driver

...Can't debug LabVIEW built shared library
I'm using LabVIEW 8.20 and have built a shared library containing a single VI that will be called from C/C++.
In the build specification, I've enabled debugging and marked 'Wait for debugger on launch'.
I start a C, C++ or LabVIEW application that calls the VI. Now, the "One or more VIs are paused..." message is displayed.
From the Project Explorer window I select Operate->Debug Application or Shared Library... and tries to connect to the application.
The "Failed to connect to remote application" is displayed each time.
I've followed every step in the Debugging Applications and Shared Libraries section of the LabVIEW Help.
If I turn the VI into an Application instead of a Shared Library there's no problem debugging it.

1) I have a labview project for strength gauge using flex sensor and another labview project on tracking the brightest light intensity of image captured by webcam.
How do i integrate both together?
2) How do I show simple animations of the measurement result?
For e.g if I am doing a measurement and position tracking of a bow and arrow game using labview program,
how do i show the bulleye's and whether the user has hit on the bull's eye?
Is it possible to import flash animation of the bull's eye? How do i do that?
this may be an solution for your first question.
the project file of LabVIEW is a XML file.
you can open it with a txt editor, such as notepad, ultraedit, and so on.
or a XML editor is prefer.
then try to integrate (copy and paste) the part of the content two project.
it maybe works. i think.

It was working fine.
Suddenly after about a month up time it stopped, I think it was an IP

It is now sitting behind my emergency windows box ICS.
It can ping www.google.com with no problem but links www.google.com sits
there with "Making connection".
I did have it running a firewall that caused no probs for outbound
connections like that but i have turned that off.
It wont let me ssh in from either side.
It happily DCHPs from the modem or the windlw box, although it wont
route through the modem for some reason, but that is for later.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on and what I can do to fix it?

I'm using Aztech 56k USB modem on the Fedora. I download the driver for this

So where should I diagnose the problem? I suspect maybe is the DNS setup

Does it tell you that immediately? No name server or no default route.
Does it tell you that after a short time? Wrong name server.
Does it tell you that after several minutes? Wrong default route.
