Convert 8.2.1 to 7.1

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone were able to convert my VI from 8.2.1 to 7.1
 
8.2.1 is the only version of LV ever on this computer, so I think that is why I'm not able to do it on my own...only 8.0 is listed as a version I can save as a previous version.

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments.  I've been looking into your question about converting your VI to an older version and I have done everything that I can to convert it back to 7.1.  Usually, our versions of LabVIEW are only capable of saving for one version backwards, which is why you were only able to save your VI in 8.0.  However, with LabVIEW 8.5, we are able to save a couple of versions back, so you may want to look into that if this is going to be a recurring issue.  Also, please keep in mind that many features change with newer versions of LabVIEW and there are numerous tweaks in order to make our products better.  This being said, saving for previous versions of LabVIEW may not be fully compatibile as you intended, so you may have to make a few changes to your code if it does not operate as you expect.  I hope this helps you out and please feel free to reply back if you have any questions.  Thanks!

The problem with this is that 8.0 was soon proceeded by 8.2. Also 8.0 wasn't
very good. So it took a while for someone to do the conversion, because most
people removed 8.0 as soon as 8.2 was released. I did that, although I'm
still using 7.1.

I've been reading this thread, as I'm having a problem saving for a previous version with 8.5.
I've tried saving&nbsp;my project and my top level VI as&nbsp;8.2 and 8.0 but mid way through the process labview crashes... anyone got any ideas as to how to work round this?

this is a file saved in labview 8.21. can someone please convert it to an older version say 7.21 or somethin? i tried it on my comp but guess it dint work out. n i really need to work on it!

Correct.&nbsp; 8.5 gives you a couple versions back,&nbsp; which are 8.2 and 8.0.&nbsp; In order to go back to 7.1, you will need to have 8.0 installed, or find someone who does.&nbsp; If it isn't too many VI's, you could post them on the forum and someone may be able to do the conversion for you.

Hi mfried, here's the LV7.1 version...- I made some changes and comments to CANUSB_Tx.vi. Read them!- In CANUSB_Demo.vi you should create a shift register to hold "messages" instead of using locals in each event case...

I'm not sure I can actually do this, but I'll give an approach for doing = it; I think it could be done in a data step or in IML. Maybe someone = else can work out the code! =20 1. Take the original string and form a data set that creates an = observation for each value between the commas: 1-10,21,22,30-35,40,41 becomes 1-10 21 22 30-35 40 41 2. Take that new data set and search for a dash (using INDEX). If not = found, then output the value. If found, then assign the start value to = the part to the right of the dash, the ending value to the part to the = left of the dash, using SUBSTR. Convert the start and end value to = numeric, then do a do loop with an output, such as: do i=3Dstart to end; value=3Di; output; end; 3. Then you should wind up with values down of each of the individual = values: 1 2 3 ... 41 4. Then you can get the thing into a comma delimited string by a = couple of approaches. Problems in accessing exported VIs in Labview 8.2.1 (in contrast to 7.1)
In a local client / server arrangement I use a server sided global VI for buffering information from the server to the client. Server VI and global VI are assumed to run in a common application, the client in another. The server exports the global VI but the client can't get access to it and thus is not able to call the global VI by reference. Within one and the same development environment everything works fine (example 1). After distributing it into two projects with libraries or after application building it doesn't (examples 2a &amp; 2b) A similar construct worked under LabView 7.1 but I got lost in VI-settings, build settings and computer instance settings under 8.2.1. math changes from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2?
I've got some code that does simulated fixed-point math and things like exp(-x). I find that my simulations work fine on a Windows XP box, Pentium IV, Ruby 1.8.2. However, when I run the same exact Ruby code on my Powerbook G4 running Ruby 1.8.1 I get lots of errors from my unit tests. I suspect that what I'm doing is really stressing the floating point operations so it could just be a difference between the G4 and Pentium FPUs, but I'm also wondering if there were changes between Ruby 1.8.1 and Ruby 1.8.2 that might account for this (even changes to the way Bignum works...

Controlling VI Logger 1.1.1 with LabVIEW 7.1
I have LabVIEW 7.1 on my system and installed VI Logger (1.1 them upgraded to 1.1.1). I would like to programatically control VI Logger with LabVIEW. There are references to VIs under the Advanced pallate to do just that, but I cannot find them or any help files to explain what to do. Where do I find these VIs? ...

Yeah, the format only gets resolved before or after depending on double or single quotes. Just to add I started rubying last year, have stuck with it, love the language (my favourite), just bought (and am reading) the pickaxe2 book. Love it. Unable to install LV Runtime Engine 7.1.1 with LabVIEW Professional 8.5.1
I installed&nbsp;LabVIEW Professional Sys. for Windows (XP) 8.5 and then the 8.5.1 update. Somewhere in the original installation, LV Run-time Engine 7.1 was installed. But I need LV RTE 7.1.1. So I attempted to install RTE 7.1.1. Problem: The LV RTE installer aborts with the following message: &nbsp; "Installation aborted. Newer version already installed."&nbsp; &nbsp; Why do I need 7.1.1? I must run some commercial LV executables that were compiled with LV 7.1.1 and will not run under 7.1. :smileysad: You may have to uninstall RTE 8.5.1 to proceed with the 7.1.1 install and then reinstall RTE 8.5.1. &nbsp; I hope this helps! Well, I have to correct myself. MAX indicated that LV RTE 7.1 (not 7.1.1) was installed. My complied LV app indicated that 7.1.1 was not installed. I checked Windows Add New Programs and selected "National Instruments Software" I found that LV RTE 7.1.1 was, in fact, installed. So&nbsp;I selected LabVIEW Runtime Engine 7.1.1 and clicked Repair.
