How to access data from an MS Excel sheet and import it to a MS Word using LabView?
Hello I would like to know how is it possible to access a specified data( for example row 1 ,column 2 to 5) in an Excel sheet and import it to a word document using LabView. Thanks You can interact with Office application through ActiveX, but you should be warned that it requires opening a lot of properties and going deep into the Office object hierarchy and this does not look nice in LabVIEW. If you open the example finder (Help&gt;&gt;Find Examples) and search for "ActiveX" or "Excel" you should find some examples on the basics of working with Excel. You can do the same with Word, so you can get your data from Excel and put it into Word. If you search here you should also find some threads dealing with this. To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. <a href="http://cnx.rice.edu/content/col10241/latest/" target="_blank">Here</a>, <a href="http://zone.ni.com/devzone/learningcenter.nsf/03f7c60f17aad210862567a90054a26c/55974411828f779086256ce9007504bd" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="http://www.mech.uwa.edu.au/jpt/tutorial/index.html" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="http://www.iit.edu/~labview/Dummies.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.upscale.utoronto.ca/GeneralInterest/LabView.html" target="_blank">here</a...

How to transfer info automatically from an excel data base to a word document OR an excel
Hello. I'm working on a project with an excel database and need help with the following. This database has some dates that are changed regularly and I need to make an automated system so that everytime one of the dates is changed on the Excel database, it changes automaticaly the date in 2 different word documents and print them both. Any ideas on how it can be done? In the case you don't know how to do it on a Word document, I can get one of the documents inside the database, the others (they are too many) can be reformated to Excel files, but as external files, that is, not in the same file of the database. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this. By the way, if your solution can be done without programming, much better, I don't know of any programming language. But if you can't think of a way to do it without programming, tell me anyway and I see if I can get one of my more nerdy friends to do it for me. Thanks again. ...

Transfering a struct in a struct form LabVIEW to a dll and get it back to LabVIEW
Hi everyone, &nbsp; actually I've a big problem. I'm calling a dll function through LabVIEW. The called function is defined isw defined as followed: fcbGetEnumFlexCards( fcInfo** pInfo); &nbsp; fcInfo is a struct: typedef struct fcInfo { fcDword FlexCardId; fcVersion Version; fcInfo* pnext; } fcInfo; &nbsp; The Parameter fcDword is an unsigned int 32, but the Parameter Version which is decleared as fcVersion is also a struct: &nbsp; typedef struct fcVersion { fcVersionNumber BaseDll; fcVersionNumber DeviceDriver; fcCCtype CCType; fcDword Reserved[4]; } fcVersion; &nbsp; but the next Problem is that the fcVersionNumber declaration is also a struct: typedef struct fcVersionNumber { fcDword Major; fcDword Minor; }fcVersionNumber; My first thought to solve the Problem was to build a cluster in a cluster, in a cluster and then pass it to the C-Function. That worked without any Problem, but all defined Parameters in the Cluster were still unwritten except the first one?! But I know that all the other parameters should be written too? Is there any possibility to solve this probleme through LabVIEW? &nbsp; Thanks for helping.... ...

Problem in reading data from Excel sheet to 2D string array (ActiveX & LabView).
I am trying to read data from Excel sheet to 2D string array (ActiveX & LabView). Error -2147352571 is generated (type mismatch) if cell value is "#NULL!", "#N/A" etc. What should I do? Hello =96 Is the error happening when the cell value is #NULL or #NA only? Sometimes these errors occur because of an ActiveX object mismatch. exporting labview data excel
Hello. I have data going from labview to excel and it pulls up great. I have 8 different thermocouples. What I've been trying to figure out is how to label the columns in excel so that it&nbsp;lists the thermocouples and doesn't just give a generic label like "formula" for each 8 instances. For example, I want it to say Blue, Red, Green, etc. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I'm very new to labview and have looked at posts and examples of how to do it but it's still confusing to me. I was hoping someone could take a quick look at the snapshots I've posted and let me know what to do or provide a fix. I'm sorry but neatness really does count. I replaced all of those formula express VIs with Expression Nodes and used a couple of Write to Spreadsheet File functions instead of the Write to Measurement File. Then I realized that you had a very old version of LabVIEW - one I cannot save to. Attached is the image. It should give you an idea of what your VI could look like if you spent a little time. In 7.0, in order to get Write to Spreadsheet File to save a string array, you have to f...

how do i copy data from excel into labview
I have a spreadsheet with some data in excel.&nbsp; What i need to do is be able to straight copy then paste it into a labview table control but whenever i try to do this it just puts all the data into the first cell on the table control in labview.&nbsp; is there a table control that will allow for the correct copying of the data from excel? &nbsp; thanks Brent When you read the data from Excel you read it as a variant. You had to cast it to the appropriate datatype using the Variant To Data function. What are you casting it to? Attached is an example I wrote a while ago for reading Excel data into a string array. The string array can be replaced with a table, as it's the same datatype. You may also want to peruse the <a href="http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=BreakPoint&amp;message.id=2391&amp;jump=true" target="_blank">Excel thread</a>. Read Excel.vi: http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/170/346776/1/Read Excel.vi I will peruse that board you forwarded me to but what i'm intending is for the user to open a sheet in excel, select the cells he needs and then hitting ctrl+c and then going into the labview program and selecting a cell in the table and hitting ctrl+v to paste the cells into the table control.&nbsp; thanks for the prompt response as well! &nbsp; Brent Hi Brent, I'm afraid I don't believe this is possible directly but there may be a work around by copying into a string c...

Importing data to a Check Box from Excel

Access doesn't include user controls in an import. In the control format properties, I think on the control tab, there should be a Cell Link box. Enter the cell the checkbox should update. It will do using a True/False value. When you import the spread sheet, Access should recognize it as a Yes/No value and import them as 0's and -1's. ISeries Data Transfer to Excel 2003

excel into labview
Hello, I am trying to take excel data and put it into labview. The data is points for a cartesian coordinate system, these&nbsp;points come from a thermocouple taking temperature readings off of a condenser. Anyway I want to take these points and make a 3D Surface out of them. I have been able to take the excel data and get it into labview but have not been successful in converting it into a&nbsp;3d surface graph. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Hi Jeff, If you can post some data i might be able to help.&nbsp; At the moment i have no idea what format your data is in etc etc. Craig Have you taken a look at the examples that ship with LabVIEW? Basically, all you need to do is feed in the X values and the Y values. You can take a look at the example <a href="http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/1026" target="_blank">Plotting Arrays of XYZ Data Using the 3D Surface Graph</a> if you have a Z vector as well. thanks craig this is an excel file with points described as letters the points have an X, Y, and Z value. Transfering Data to Excel with FormulaArray/Transpose
I am trying to populate an Excel worksheet with the contents of an array. I can't just use CopyFromRecordset becuase I have to modify some of the data in the RST before sending it over. I use GetRows to produce an array, fiddle with the values for a bit, and then (try) to push it across the interface to Excel. I know it is a bad idea to copy cell-by-cell, so I am trying to use FormulaArray and Transpose. The process works when the number of rows I am transfering is fairly small, when falls apart with more data, reporting an error of "Type Mismatch." I know NULL values give FormulaArray heartburn, so I already looked for that, and I don't have any. When transfering my full recordset didn't work, but only a few rows did, I started experimenting, and found out that I can transfer 780 rows this way, but not 781. I must be bumping into some limit of Excel's, but I don't know what. This is what I have (note that avDataMatrix is a variant parameter to this function, which resulted from a call to ADODB.Recordset.GetRows): ' This produces a string such as "A3:G13890" lsRange = "A" & knFirstRowNumberOfData & ":" _ & Chr(lnNumFields + 64) _ & knFirstRowNumberOfData + gnNumRowsOfData - 1 Set loRange = loWorksheet.Range(lsRange) loRange.FormulaArray = goExcelApp.Transpose(avDataMatrix) Also, just for kicks I tried doing the transpose of the large array all by ites...
