I'm trying to set up a DAQ assist just to measure some voltage, how do i get the graph to start from 0 (time) every time I press run

Hi all,

I am trying to set up a simple DAQ assist to measure some voltages (currently a 9 volt battery to aid set up), when choosing to use a waveform chart to log the voltages the graph doesnt start from 0 (time seconds) how do I do this and get it to reset every time I press run or even stop.
What I want to see at the end is a chart for the full lenght of the test showing voltage against time in seconds.

Any ideas peeps

many thanks

Shane

Hello Sir,

Your Question is brief. I would appreciate if you attach the VI you
worked on. Generally, when you check for the functions in the front
panel, you will find different graph functions like XY Graph etc, which
you may use to acquire both the time stamps and corresponding voltages.
I am sorry if my answer is vague but I would love to see your VI that
you worked on, before I go a head and answer in detail.

Good Luck!

Hi Shane,
Look at this VI
Here, I clear the chart before running the VI, using a 'history data' property node ( i pass an empty array to clear it)
In effect, each time you run the VI, the chart will begin at 0:00
Hope this helps
Regards
Dev

Every time I try to start LabVIEW 7.0 my computer tries to install labWindows7.0
Every time I try to start LabVIEW 7.1 my computer tries to install LabWindows 7.0 on top of the LabVIEW start uo. How do I disconnect them? Yes I have LabView 7.1 and LabWindows on the same machine. I have seen this problem with Labview and Visual Basic. Starting Labview causes the VB install procedure to start. Also seen where starting VB causes the Labview install to start. Thank you Microsoft. The only way to get rid of it is to go ahead and insert the LabWindows install disc when prompted and let it go through the install, again. Can't get labview to write continiously to spreadsheet, writes one column each time program is run, then appends data the next time it is run.
I am attempting to write load cell, linear transducer and time stamp to EXCEL. Due to the limited room in EXCEL I have a sample rate of 10/second. This is accomplished by setting the DAQ assistant to one sample (HW timed) in the acquisition mode of the task timer. A wait timer set at a loop rate of 1000 millaseconds is included in the "while" loop to slow the sampling rate down. This works well. Now the data is taken outside of the loop and entered into a "build array" block and then into a "write to spreadsheet" block. This generates only one row of data (3 columns wide) each time the program is run. I need it to run for 5 minutes and collect data every 1/10 of a second, and save it to file even! I have tried setting the sample rate in the DAQ to continuious or N samples, but the program then fails to run. Can someone please give me some guideance? This is my first vi and the fun ended yesterday when I was to have this test run. Thank you. Jim Steinmeyer jimsteinmeyer@reinke.com I could be wrong, but from what I gleaned from your explanation was that you should get rid of the "build array" outside your loop, and set the tunnel to "autoindex". Just right click and select "Enable Indexing". See the pic. Labview time stamp's current time and time of the regional settings differs but i want this to be same.
Hi All, I am changing my time zone to GMT+01:00 (Amsterdan, Berlin etc.,), so systems time changes to italian time. but when i use the labview's time stamp control and select the option of set to current time, the value in the control changes to indian time only(local time). I want this to appear corresponding to the time zone which has been set. if anyone has come across this kind of issues and have the idea, please tell me. Thanks in advance. Regards, sathish. if time = 3 seconds, how do i set the values of the time steps 0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,3.0,5.0 to -9999 from time =3 seconds
Hi I have 18 inputs (arrays) which contain certain statistics and if time = 3 seconds, set the values of time step 5.0 to -9999.0. I was wondering if there is an efficient way to do this without using a lot of case statements? Thank you. Hello AdrianT, it's not really clear to me what you want to do... I suspect: you have an array containing values and you want to output them with a fixed timing of 3 seconds: you should use a for loop autoindexing trough your array and sending the value to your indicator/output/whatever. Put a "wait for next multiple" into your for loop. Or do you want to have a minimum time delay of 3 seconds? Again use a for loop, get the time value and use a InRange&Coerce with minimum set to 3 seconds... Or you should explain more precisely what you need... Hi Thanks for that. Let me explain. The time may vary. Let me give an example. if time = 2.1, I want to set the time step's 3.0 and 5.0's values to -9999.0. if the time =0.1 seconds then I want to set 0.2,0.3, 0.5 etc values to -9999.0 etc .................................................................... Can you please help? Thank you. Hello TUDS, do you use different accounts/nicknames ? Well, that's easy, at least for a sorted array: Search for your time-value in the array (Threshold 1D array). Fill all elements from that index till the end with your "error...

Time in LabVIEW DAQ Assistant and Write LabVIEW file
Hello all, I would be extremely grateful for your assistance in helping me understand the timing in LabVIEW. Here are the details of the system. The data acquisition is done using a simple LabVIEW 8.2 based program consisting of a DAQ Assistant VI and a Write to Measurement File VI, which writes data in TDM format (binary with XML header). The hardware consists of a 1042Q chassis that contains 2 PXI-6133 cards. 16 transducers are connected to these 8 channel cards. The chassis is connected to a PC by means of MXI-4 fiber optic cable and a PCI-8336 card. I would like to sample all 16 channels simultaneously at 500 kS/s for 2 secs. or 1MS/s for 0.5 secs. When the signals were sampled at 500kS/s x 2secs., the time column looks like this when opened on DIAdem. Serial# Time Time(in secs. when displayed in number format with 8 decimals) 1 07/10/2007 00:09:42.1406 63351158982.14060800 14 07/10/2007 00:09:42.1407 63351158982.14069760 64 07/10/2007 00:09:42.1408 63351158982.14080000 109 07/10/2007 00:09:42.1409 63351158982.14090240 etc. The time does not change from serial 1 to 13, and only at the 14th row does it change, after which it remai...

How to measure the time of evolution of a signal in a graph and to compare this time measured with a known value?
For my application, I am obliged to measure the time of evolution of a signal acquired (from T1 to t2) by an analogical entry of a module NI 9203, and to compare this value with a value known in order to judge if this time of evolution is correct or not. PLEASE I prefer an example for better understanding. Greetings Jacob, I am not sure what you mean with 'time of evolution' but normally you acquire at a certain acquisition rate. How much time that has passed, you can calculate by checking how much points are between your two points of interest. If you are acquiring at 5Hz, the time between every point is 200ms. If there are let's say 10points between your two points of interest, 2s have passed.Regards,WouterNational Instruments ...

Timing run time
I would like to compare the speed of two algorithms solving the same problem. As far as I understood, the tic-toc command gives the time difference between the beginning and the end of the computation, without taking into account the time spent by the processor doing something else. I'm using a multi-processor multi-users machine and the CPU time used by my process is not 100% and is not constant. The measured speeds are fluctuating so much that I can hardly conclude anything. Is it possible to obtain realistic measurements of the speed of my algorithms? Thanks for your help Dear Didi...

Why do I get mutliple samples of the same value when I query the DAQ in a timed loop with the DAQ set at one sample?
I am a new user to Labview with about three weeks of experience using Labview 8.2. For the most part I have been able to set up some vi without a lot of issues. One problem that I am having that I cannot get a grip on is the data stream that I get from a DAQ call. I set up the DAQ to a continuous mode with the sample size at 1 and the sample rate at 10 Hz. I then enclose my vi with a timed loop that is set anywhere from 20 seconds up to 60 seconds. The data is then sent to a file for analysis. The problem is that instead of getting what I think should be 1 reading per time base (1 second or 60 seconds), I get multiple readings of the same value. The test I am running is physically changing values every 10 to 15 seconds. I changed the DAQ to an actual sample number without being in continuous mode and my data then seems to be right. The only problem with that setup is the DAQ will not allow me to go to just one sample. This makes me have to filter my final file. I do not understand what I am actually getting when you trigger or query the DAQ for a reading? Is there a buffer there?
