Log data every 20 seconds with duration of 10 seconds

I am using Labview 8.20 on WinXP and trying to log data every 20 seconds with duration of 10 seconds. The hardware I am using is NI cDAS-9172 with NI 9237, NI 9205. I know it must be a simple programming, but I am just a beginer and need this shortly. The attached vi file I wrote could not do what I want. Somebody please help me out. Thanks alot.

I only took a brief look at your VI, but right off the bat, you need to get rid of your inner loop. The way it is once the "time to log" comes up you go into the inner loop and don't get out of the inner loop until the second elapsed time has happened. During this time you are not acquiring data - you're always logging the same value for 10 seconds..

Attached is an alternate implementation using simulated data. The string control acts as the data that's going to be logged. It's crude, but I'll leave it to you to "spiff it up" or think of a more elegant solution. :smileywink:

Your code already shows you autoindexing the outer for-loop so it runs for each row. And the inner loop is set to run a constant 100 times for each row, and you're indexing out each column from the specific row that is currently being executed. So what's the problem? I am always interested in questions like this, though, because I know there will be one or two people who will respond with something creative that never would have occurred to me. As far as I know, there is no way to register with a cursor and/or connection (even in 3GL languages) how long a running query has and/or will take(n), at least reliably. What you could do is write the routine in java, and in your data access routine create a threaded object with a callback function that times out after four seconds (posts your running routine). If it does timeout, you know you haven't gotten your data. If you do get data, post the threaded object to stop keeping track. I woul...

how to send data every second in UDP
Hi, I have inherited a LabVIEW app that I need to modify to output 5 values onto a LAN once a second. I have written the code into a UDP packet and I've set up a multicast send. This works fine and sends every 1000ms. However, to do this, a loop is entered and then waits the 1000ms and then sends. This causes the rest of the application to wait until the loop is finished until it can carry on. This results in the app becoming very 'glitchy'. Is there a way that I can just send every 1000ms, without using the wait? Thanks, Steve Smith Hi steve66, one solution is to use a parallel loop to send the UDP data, and another solution is to set the wait to 100 or 10 and count the loop iterations. So that you send your data only every 10/100 loop. Hope it helps. Mike I take it, that if I want to use an iteration count, I would need to use a shift register to remember values between iterations. If this is so, how do I set up the shift register. Also, what should the n value be set to. I'm guessing 1? Hi steve66, im not sure if in your case a for loop is the right selection. Use a while loop. Right click on the border a select create shift register. To initialize the shift register connect a constant to it. Mike hito use a loop and count the iterations, with and without shift registers, you can see the attached image. i am sure if that is what you wanted to do.but, to send data on udp after every 1 sec...

make any database have the ability of logging within 10 seconds
JDBMonitor is an open source project. It allows the developer to add the function of database execution logging to the application. It's so easy to use that the only thing you should do is appending "listenerconfig=3D/config.xml:url=3D" to the JDBC connection string of your application=EF=BC=8Cwithout writing any code. With JDBMonitor, you can log the database execution in many ways, for example,to console,to file or to remote client through socket.JDBMonitor is extendible=EF=BC=8Cso you can extend it to log the execution in other ways. The only thing you should do is writing a class implements the interface IDBListener. JDBMonitor is licensed under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public Licence (LGPL). A copy of the licence is included in the distribution. Introduction Almost every large database application includes its own SQL execution logging function, which not only can help the developers to debug, but also can provide information for the DBA(DataBase Administrator). At the same time,a lot off code like=E2=80=9Dlogger.logSQL(sql)=E2=80=9D fi= lling in the code.It=E2=80=99s drawbacks as follow: (1) It=E2=80=99s difficult to separate this codes from the business code. (2) It reduces the readability of the code. (3) It slows down the application. When the logger write the SQL to file or output to console, the programme will wait util the process to finish,I/O operation is time-consuming. Zone Alarm accessing registry every 10 seconds
Hi, I have just downloaded sysinternals Regmon and have found that a process called VSMON.EXE:176 is accessing my registry every 10 seconds. It appears to be looking for a current version of a virus program. It would appear that VSMON.EXE belongs to Zone Alarm. When I disable the Zone alarm antivirus monitoring VSMON.EXE reduces its registry access from 27 accesses to 4 accesses each 10 seconds. I do have AVG antivirus software installed but it would appear that Zone alarms does not recognise this. Is there a way of getting Zone alarm to recognise AVG? or should I just turn the virus monitoring off? Still Zone alarms is trying to access registry entry HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\EnableAutodial which does not exist. Is there a way to stop Zone alarms trying to turn AutoDial on? Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks. 10 seconds
Just installed a Netgear router with its own firewall (on XP) and, oddly, when I check e-mail I get 10 second delay before the mail goes. Then after that they go straight away. But close the e-mail client and open it again, and, sure enough, the 10 second delay is back. Any ideas on this? Is it the firewall/router blocking something? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. lee walters <pepplewickTAKEAWAY@hotmail.com> wrote: > Just installed a Netgear router with its own firewall (on XP) and, > oddly, when I check e-mail I get 10 second delay before the mail goes. Why is my case's HDD yellow light blinking almost every second when idling even outside of X and KDE v3.5.10?
Hello. A couple days, I replaced my old single core Athlon 64 754 CPU and its motherboard desktop/workstation with an Intel quad-core Q8200 CPU and its motherboard. Everything seems to be good and working. However, I noticed my case's yellow HDD light seems to blink a lot almost every second when idling. I could not figure out why at first. I don't remember/recall it blinking this much in the past. I thought maybe it was X (exited it back to console/text mode), preload, and my IRC's rbot (does write to its log file often for sure) but I still see the drive lighting blinking every other second. Averaging the second column of data for many sets of data
Hi all, I was recently reading: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/newsreader/view_thread/304172 I have a similar situation but can't figure out how to do something very seemingly simple... I have a program that generates a .mat file which has a single variable inside. This variable is a 64x2 matrix and the first column values never change. All of the .mat files have unique names, and I'd like to add a for loop to my program that can average the second column of data across all these individual files. The final output would be another .mat file with the averaged values...
