Labview 7 crashes when opening an earlier Labview version VI
Hello guys. I am using Labview 7 professional edition. The labview crashes when opening an earlier labview version VI. The error message I'm getting is just "Labview has encounted a problem and eneds to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The VI contains a few Tag SubVIs, and It is written with an earlier version of Labview(BridgeView is what it was called). Do anyone have any ideas that how I can fix this bug? It's going to be a great help. Thank you very much. Hello, &nbsp; LabVIEW should not be crashing in this situation. Now, does this happen for other similar VIs too? It could be possible that a particular VI is corrupt.&nbsp; Also could you post your VI here so that I can try and reproduce the problem at my end. &nbsp; Regards, Chetan K Application Engineering National Instruments &nbsp; ...

Compatibility of Labview 7.1 with 7.0
I just installed LV7.1 on a new machine and I'm developing source code for a customer with LV7.0. When I tried to save the vi in LV7.0, I got several messages that said certain components could not be saved in 7.0. But a vi WAS saved along with a directory containing some support files. I have two questions: (1) Will these files work on 7.0 (I'm assuming no) and (2) is there any problem with installing 7.0 after installing 7.1 (separate coexisting systems). You should be able to install LabVIEW 7.0 after LabVIEW 7.1. I typically have at least the three last version installed concurrently. Do you have more details on the error messages? Many times you can ignore them, e.g. it won't convert any system VIs from vi.lib because it will use the ones from the 7.0 installation. Of course if you use a new 7.1 feature that is not available in 7.0, it will still convert, but you might get a broken VI with the incompatible elements missing. Simply open the broken VI in 7.0 and program around the problem areas. ...

Co-existing Labview 7.0 and 7.1
I have Labview 7.0 running on a Windows 98 OS. There are VIs written in this environment that I do not want to lose. Can I install Labview 7.1 while keeping the Labivew 7.0 as is? Later, if my existing programs still work OK (i.e. if I do not detect any forward compatibility issues), then I might uninstall 7.0. Thanks in advance. Absolutely. &nbsp; You can have many co-existing versions happily residing on the same PC. &nbsp; I forgot to mention one thing.&nbsp; You simply have to be careful not to open a VI created by an older version with a newer version of LV because it will save it in the newer version.&nbsp; Unless yo do want to bring up the version of the vi. In other words, if you have a VI created in LV 7.0 and you have multiple versions installed; then you wish to open the LV7.0 vi but keep it as a LV7.0 vi; right click and use Open With and select LV7.0.&nbsp; You can open it with any newer version as long as you do not save it because it will save it to that newer version.&nbsp; However, opening it with LV7.0 and saving it will preserve it to LV7.0. Other suggestion:&nbsp; keep a backup copy of your work ;) RayR Heed Ray's warning.&nbsp; When you go to open a VI in LV7.1, it WILL NOT warn you that the VI was created in 7.0.&nbsp; It is easy to forget which version you wanted to maintain an application in if you have a need to maintain&nbsp; them in the original versions. 7.1 will not run on Windows 98. Good catch ts...

labview 8.5 to labview 7.0
i am on my labview working with 8.5but at work, we only have labview 7.0.what would be my best way to get my vi to be 7.0?thank you so muchMessage Edited by krispiekream on 06-19-2008 03:59 PM In order to go from LV 8.5 to LV 7, you will need to have LV 8.5 (save it back to 8.0), LV 8.0 (save it back to 7.1) and LV 7.1 (to save back to 7.0). If it's only a few small VI's, you can post them on the forum and ask someone to do the saves for you.&nbsp; (Best if you do the save back to 8.0 and&nbsp;post that in order&nbsp;to eliminate 1 of the 3 steps for whoever will do the rest of the conversions for you.) yeah. great.. i did all those steps.i went from 8.0 to 7.1i dont have labview 7.1 so i can't go to 7.0.can someone please help me. Can I run a LabVIEW 7.1 Application on a system with LabVIEW 6.1?
The VI App did not run properly, even after I installed the LabVIEW 7.1 Run time engine. Perhpas I need to uninstall the LV 6.1 run time engine? Thank you for any suggestions; perhaps it's something minor that I'm overlooking! Are you talking about a 7.1 exe or VI? An executable will run with 6.1 installed and the 7.1 run-time. A 7.1 VI will only run with 7.1 development system. When you say it did not run properly, what exactly do you mean? I am referring to trying to run a 7.1 EXE application on a system with a resident 6.1 development environment, and the 7.1 run-time engine ins...

LabVIEW 8.0 changed a constant that was wired to a Case structure to a hidden control to maintain compatibility with LabVIEW 7.1 and earlier.
Y am i getting this msg? Hi, muks, This happened because "...LabVIEW does not compile code on the block diagram that does not execute. For example, LabVIEW does not compile any code that exists within the inactive subdiagrams of the Conditional Disable structure. In addition, LabVIEW does not compile code within a Case structure that has a constant wired to it that would not execute the case with the code..."In the other words, if you have case structure, which is wired to T/F constant, then prior to version 8.x both cases will be compiled. From version 8.x the only "executed" case will be compiled. So, LabVIEW replaces constant with control for ensure that both cases will be compiled as before. refer to <a href="http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361A-01/lvupgrade/labview_8_0_features/" target="_blank">this document</a> best regards,Andrey. Why cannot a VI be run in LabView version 7.1, if it ran in version 6.1?
I developed a VI in LabView 6.1 and try to open it in version 7.1. The error was as follows "Compile Error - Report this error to NI Tech Support: nmx unbundler bad sea/eea or edisp-sdisp = 0x1" It was suggested to me that I should mass compile all my 6.1 files, before opening them in version 7.1. I did so and then the error became "Code could not be generated correctly for this VI / An error occurred in compiling this VI" Please advise of a potential solution. Regards, Raluca C. LabView 7.1 and MATLAB 7
LabView 7.1 hangs when I try to send variable to MATLAB 7 workspace using standart LabView to MATLAB script. Nothing appears in MATLAB 7 workspace. When I tried to run the MATLAB Script-Fractal.vi (MATLAB script node has only outputs) from examples directory - everything work fine. When I run the MATLAB Script - Lorenz Diff Eq.vi from examples - error message appears:"Error 1047 occurred at LabVIEW: LabVIEW failed to send variable to the script server. Server:"Inappropriate input array size" in MATLAB Script - Lorenz Diff Eq.vi". Using LabView 7.1 with previous version of MATLAB (6.5) I have no problem running examples and my own LabView programs. Labview 7.0 Vs Labview 8.2 Issue?
Hello, For a independent study Labview class I'm taking, I am trying to create a program that will input two different wav files and combine parts of them together for audio output. The first file I am trying to cut out the bass lines and replace them with the bass lines from the second file. Kind of like turning the second file into a karaoke version and filling in the vocals with the vocal line from the first file. A second option is simply taking the instrumentals from a song (a wav file containing only the bass line) and adding them to the first file after cutting out the original bass line of the first if this isn't possible. I found the attached file while searching for information/examples as to how to do this - it was originally posted at:http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&amp;message.id=74618&amp;requireLogin=FalseI tried running the file in Labview 8.20 and it came back with the error that "Build Screen.vi not found." I have searched for this file to download but have come up with nothing. Also, any tips/pointers/comments (or "there is no way this is possible") are much appreciated and very welcome. I have been searching to see if there is anything like this that has been done before and as of yet haven't been able to find anything. I am pretty new to Labview but I am a quick learner and I have a professor working with me on the project that is very familiar with Labview. However, it's spring break right no...

hellow,i have an instrument which do not have the labview driver, its output signal is RS232,so can i use labview7.0 to read the signal? thanks! Another possible option is to use the Instrument I/O Assistant. It is an interactive tool that generates Instrument I/O and response parsing code for you.
