Hi ,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
well,I am new in the field of PLCs and don't have much knowledge about them, but, I know this much that PLC can help me in getting data out of a device and display that data on it's monitor .I have already build up an application in LabView wherin I am capturing data from that device on computer using VISA ,and XP OS .Now,I want to ave that application loaded on any PLC which will have XP OS and based upon that data,I should be able to provide control to some drives via PLC.
I hope ,I have made my requirement clear .
Please guide me how should I proceed.
Regards
sarita

Is it my computer or the labview program that is slowed down by this program
When I run this Vi with a large excel file the playback is extremely slow. I don't see why it would be the program, but the file are not that large so it shouldn't be the computer. I have attached the code and a small (book1) and a large ( book8) excel files.   Thanks Book8.xls: http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/170/222371/1/Book8.xls testread.vi: http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/170/222371/2/testread.vi Book1.xls: http://forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/170/222371/3/Book1.xls Neither. It's your code. Specifically:- You're reading the file each time through the loop. Why? Is the data changing? Are you changing filename on the fly? If you are, you should use an event structure. - You don't have a delay inside the loop, so the loop churns away at maximum speed, leaving almost no time to respond to events. Place a wait function inside the loop with a small (say, 50 msec) delay. Better yet, use an event structure. If you do the following two steps you will see the speed increase tremendeously:- Place the file reading outside the loop. - Add a wait function inside the loop. I cannot run your VI because we need the subVI called filename.VI Here are a couple of suggestions. 1. Get rid of all the property nodes and use wires with a shift register and put a small wait in the loop. 2. Dataflow- right now you have race conditions because of all of the property nodes- you have no idea as to which one will operate first if you want to continue to u...

Program or be Programmed
http://www.rushkoff.com/program-or-be-programmed/ The debate over whether the Net is good or bad for us fills the airwaves and the blogosphere. But for all the heat of claim and counter-claim, the argument is essentially beside the point: it's here; it's everywhere. The real question is, do we direct technology, or do we let ourselves be directed by it and those who have mastered it? ?Choose the former,? writes Rushkoff, ?and you gain access to the control panel of civilization. Choose the latter, and it could be the last real choice you get to make.? ...

Hi Enrique, I was reading your message and its sounds good to me.Infact I was looking around some hints for&nbsp;the same problem. The manufacturer will provide the SDK (API) for this. My question is is it possible to control this device using Lab View??Please say some details. FPGA LABVIEW programming
Hello, National instruments has introduced new module in their labview 8 for programming the xilinx FPGA chips. It converts the labview programs into VHDL . It can borrow image processing libraries from the labview too. I was wondering that if somebody has used this module form labview can give me details about it. Thanks Regards John john wrote: > I was wondering that if somebody has used this module form labview > can give me details about it. labview imaging program
I'm writing a program to do some imaging using labview and one of the ni daq cards. basically I need to generate 2 separate waveforms to move my sample and at the same time acquire from 2 other channels. and of course everything should be synchronized. at the end of each generated waveform I should transfer the data on the disk, etc has anyone wrote something similar? I would like to have an idea of what is a good approach to solve the problem and base my program on that. thanks -Claudio Hi Claudio, As I understand it you=92re trying to do simultaneous analog input and output and...

LabVIEW program is very very slow
What is the maximum size of the labview program??.I am working on a LabVIEW program of size 50MB.It is very very slow.It is taking minutes of time for each action to edit.My sysyem is having 512MB RAM and 80GB hard disk space. Please provide me the solution for this problem. Are you saying ONE VI is 50 MB? If so, then I suggest that your architecture (or lack thereof...) is the problem. If not, then running 50MB of LabVIEW code should not be an inherent problem. I assume that you have plenty of RAM? -- Rob If controls &amp;&nbsp;indicators are your problem you can also disable panel updates before changing them all and then enable front panel updates when you're done Another thing that can slow things way down is Property node wirtes &amp; local variable writes. Disabling/Enabling the panel can help in that case as well. In addition to all the other comments, 512MB of RAM is really marginal on any recent OS, especially of you try to work with large projects. &nbsp; You definitely should upgrade your RAM. &nbsp; Do you see lots of disk activity during the delays? What else is running on the PC? Look at the task manager (or equivalent). What is the CPU&nbsp; and RAM use, etc.? &nbsp; What is your LabVIEW version and OS? (Win XP, Linux, MAC, etc.). ...

Labview programmed mouse
I am trying to make a program with labview that can controll the computer mouse. The mouse should move automatically to some points (these points are set before) and should be able to left and rigth click(also set before). I tried to make this but i just don't know how to start. I made a stop button and a loop because the movement that the mouse makes should be done over and over till the stop button is pressed. This is a problem too, because when i let a program control the mouse i can't press the stop button anymore. So i need a hotkey that let the stop button works. I have no idea h...

labview program interrupt
Now I have a simple VI , in while loop ,wait 5000ms,but when the time is to 3000ms ,i want to&nbsp;&nbsp;jump out of the loop , how can i&nbsp;program it ? thank you!&nbsp;&nbsp; Hi YuanZhun, you can use a Queue for it. Use the "Dequeue Element" function and connect 5000 as timeout. If this block receives no message it waits 5s, but if you want to stop your loop&nbsp;you can send a command to it and the loop will stop earlier. Another solution is to run the loop with a lesser time, check the condition with each loop and count the iterations. Hope it helps.Mike YuanZhun wrote: Now I have a simple VI , in while loop ,wait 5000ms,but when the time is to 3000ms ,i want to&nbsp;&nbsp;jump out of the loop , how can i&nbsp;program it ? Well, then only wait 3000ms. :) What happens at 3000ms? Do you want to trigger an premature end of the wait&nbsp;it with some front panel action, e.g. the press of a button? In this case use an event structure with a 5000ms timeout, but add other event cases for your controls. Firing an event&nbsp;for a control will break the timeout and spin the loop. &nbsp; Can you be a bit more specific on what you are trying to do? ...

Viewing Program Code in Labview
How do I view the programming code for programs used in labview. Could you rephrase that? What are you referring to? Are you asking how to look at a VI? For that you need LabVIEW. Do you actually have LabVIEW? Or, do you think there's something more beyond the block diagram. If so, there isn't. The block diagram is the code. There's no C behind the curtains. [sorry, i'm new to this stuff] I have labview. Can I view the vi? Depends on the VI. All the shipping examples (Help&gt;Find Examples) have a block diagram (the code part) that can be viewed. Some of the functions on the functions palette are VIs with block diagrams and some a basic functions that you cannot view the code. Programs written by someone else may have the block diagram password protected or removed. Your question is a little like 'how high is up?'. Based on your question, you may not know what a block diagram or function palette is. You really should start at <a href="http://www.ni.com/academic/lv_training/how_learn_lv.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ni.com/academic/lv_training/how_learn_lv.htm</a>&nbsp;and at the very least, take the 3 hour introductory class so you can ask the correct question and understand the answer. ...

GUI programming program
Hi, guys, I have a question related to GUI programming. I created a GUI using GUIDE and it includes a popupmenu and a axes and some other push buttons. I put a surface() function in the GUI opening function in order to create a figure in the axes. The figure can be displayed correctly in the axes, however, the popupmenu is invisible(the other push bottones shows correctly). It is so weired for me. BTW, I created this GUI by using Matlab 7.0 release 14.0. Does anybody know what is wrong with my GUI? Thanks in advance! Program that teaches you programming
Back in about 1980 or there abouts I recall a program they had in my high school that ran on apple ]['s that would display either a programming example, a psuedo code programming example, a word problem or maybe a flow chart (cant remember what one it was exactly) and then you had a window below it to type in the program code, which it would then check and run for you. state machine program in LabVIEW
If anyone can help me towards converting this program into state-machine style. This existing program is reading mA signals for (torque and RPM) and displays it on chart , can logged the data and print later on. Can I convert this into state-machine? How it going to work? Do I need a button to switch between the states? For example when I need to start getting data (Acquisition ) , and its upto me whenever I want I&nbsp; can start logging and can stop the program , clear it and then exit from the program . I have possible states in my mind , like ; initializing , start, logging , report, stop, exit , ?but the problem is I don?t know how to use state-machine using push buttons (user interface) A quick response will be highly appreciated. Tracker programming/programs
Is there any open source project with following kind of file format: As we know, any sample can be constructed from basic sine waves with frequency, phase, and amplitude information. If we take this information, and express it as function of time, we have a sound. So, take much of these, and you have music. S = a * sin (w * t + p) a = f (t) w = f (t) p = f (t) So I'm asking if there already exist any project, where music is calculated "in air". This to replace various tracker programs around. Having a major problem with LabVIEW programming
I have been a faithful supporter of National Instruments hardware and software since 1997. During that time I have worked in academic laboratories using NIDAQ boards and LabVIEW for basic and applied biomedical research. To date, all my work has revolved around using the amazing analytical capabilities of LabVIEW for on- and off-line processing of analog input signals. I have not been involved in the programming of multifunction input/output vis. Now I am at a point where I am ready to construct and design experiments that require what I suspect are some very basic multi-function DAQ capab...

Building Bluetooth program on LabVIEW
Hi there, &nbsp; I am doing a project where I am suppose to build a Bluetooth software using LabVIEW to replace the current Bluetooth software for a set of timing lights (uses Bluetooth as means of communicating with the computer). This is how the setup is suppose to work, 1. The timing lights are on. A set of 7 pairs. One emitter and one receiver each. Light from emitter is received by the receiver.&nbsp; All 7 pairs are linked to the computer via Bluetooth. 2. When the connection between the emitter and receiver is broken, a signal is sent to the computer. That is basically how they work. I have tried the Bluetooth examples but they are somewhat different from what I need to do. I was wondering if it was possible to just create&nbsp;one Bluetooth VI which is able to just&nbsp;acquire, process and present&nbsp;the signals (either light received&nbsp;or not)&nbsp;from the timing lights just like a data acquisition VI. &nbsp; p/s I am new to how Bluetooth works so I am not sure what signal(s) is sent from the timing lights.
