Re: Application Builder for labVIEW 7 Doesn't support any report generation function

Hi all,
I have the same problem too.
I'm developping the application by using a MS OFFICE REPORT from a MS report generation toolkit. Then when I test and run my application, the results work fine, I can chose the location to save my excel file and then I can open the saved excel file to see my result. However, the problem arises when I try to built the .EXE file, it doesn't work. Even though, I've already added 2 dynamic VIs as follows:

- _Word Dynamic Vis.vi from _wordrdsub.llb

- _Excel Dynamic VIs.vi from _exclsub.llb

Could anyone advise how to solve this problem ? Additionally, I'm using LabVIEW8 and MS OFFICE EXCEL 2003.
Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly, the Report Generation Toolkit User Guide indicates some special steps that are required when building an executable that uses the MS Office Report Express VI.  Specifically, I believe you need to add the following two files as Support Files in your application before building:
[LabVIEW]\templates\Report\MSOffice_RGT_Template.dot[LabVIEW]\templates\Report\MSOffice_RGT_Template.xlt
See if this helps,-D
P.S. - If you're still having problems after reading this suggestion and the user guide, I recommend a more detailed description of the specific error you receive, along with attaching a simple project file and VI that demonstrate the behavior.

Labview EXE doesn't load Excel/Report Generation on different machine
Hi there!   I have a few LabView programs that I want to export data to excel with. I use the report generation toolkit to send open an excel template, then dump the data in that way. It works great on my machine, but when I go to make an executable, the excel sheet does not open and nothing happens.   I have tried adding the _exclsub.lib and almost everything that the NI site has mentioned but to no success.   Can anyone help? Thanks!   Andrew Are the Excel versions the same? Even the language of the version needs to match the version of the machine you've build the exe on. As far as I know there is no solution to this problem. Regards, Wiebe. Btw. Does the exe work on the development machine? Regards, Wiebe. ...

Re: "Total Data Size" property of running VI in LabVIEW 7.1 doesn't work any more?
Just bumped into this problem and did find the answer in this thread dating back to 2005. So, is there a way to do this with 7.1 or 7.1.1 or not? From the 2005 discussion, the resolution was that in LabVIEW 7.1 and later, you cannot read the memory used by a running VI.   I just ran both example programs posted in 2005, and no - you still cannot read the Total Data Size of a VI when it is running.  I ran both programs in LabVIEW 8.5.1.    Kevin S. Applications Engineer National InstrumentsMessage Edited by Kevin_S on 07-11-2008 04:53 PM So, how does one debug potential memory leaks or fragmentations? We have about 2700 VIs written by four or five people, part of two or three "top-level" VIs we call over and over again, and  a very small leak, as far as I can tell by the rate of increase in the execution time and program size/memory/handles.  These are all part of an LV executable we call remotely through a crude TCP interface at the rate of 25k calls per month.  We don't even have LV on that machine. There's got to be a way to find out where the problem is that doesn't imply staring at every single of those VIs.  And divide and conquer is a bit hard at this point, given the amount of code and associated instrumentation.  I will investigate your options and respond shortly.   Kevin S. Can I use LabVIEW to load data directly into system memory? The serial card I'm using isn't supported by NI nor does VISA recognize it. I'm using a Win32 function to read the data from the card

I'm using a Call Library function to read the data from the card and now I want it to go directly to system memory. LabVIEW 8 does not close ref's the same as LabVIEW 7!?!
Hello! I have been struggling with a difference between LabVIEW 7 and 8 in how the Close Reference functions for Active X objects. In order to fully understand the problem, let me first explain the process of how I got here. I have an application in beta testing and we noticed a huge memory leak in LabVIEW 8, 8.2. I took a snippet of the code and worked on it a while to reduce the memory leak. I was closing every reference and could not explain it so I wrote the same code in VB and saw no memory leaks. I implemented the same code in LabVIEW 8 and still saw a memory leak. The code opens a graph control from a third party vendor and draws it. Each time the graph is drawn in LabVIEW 8, it costs about 30-40k. We have 8 graphs in our application bringing each iteration to 240-320k. The users are going to be reviewing between 96-384 samples in one sitting but we have no control over when the program quits. 384 samples reviewed in the graphs is 92,160k as a minimum. I was frustrated and about to send it to the thrid party vendor, AB Sciex, but they only had LabVIEW 7.1. So I converted it back to 8.0 and then to 7.1.1. I ran the code in 7.1.1 and there were little to no memory leaks! I even tried it in LabVIEW 7.0 and it worked the same as 7.1.1. I monitored the memory of LabVIEW through the task monitor in Windows XP. I have tried it on a few XP machines and a 2000 machine and same answer on all. I also built a Task Monitor tool using .NET to graph the memory of the LabVIEW proce...

Re: 'do over' doesn't work
Ash As I recall, the first SAS arrays were not subscripted and did not use direct array references. The do over statement simply said, go through the variables listed in the array starting with the first and going to the last. The erro messages that you received were telling you that you should not use the brackets on the array names. From my standpoint, the beauty of the do over is that it makes coding simpler and, given my clumsy fingers, anything that reduces my chances of screwing up are a help. However, these days, I would not choose to use a do over expression in code that was going to be used in the future since someone following me would probably not know of the syntax and the Do over has not been documented in years. The following code worked for me. DATA TABLE_BIDON; INPUT X1 X2 X3 X4 X5 $; infile cards missover;** missover added; CARDS; 2 . 5 1161 ABLIEN 35 6 3 1336 ALMRIC 82 1 5 1499 ;RUN; DATA TABLE_BIDON ; * no drop statement needed here; SET TABLE_BIDON; ARRAY A_VARNUM _NUMERIC_; ARRAY A_VARCAR _CHARACTER_; DO OVER A_VARNUM; IF A_VARNUM = . How to distribute the serial core only with my exe and DLL application using the Labview application builder 8.21. I'm not interested having MAX and other components installed on the customer PC
Since Labview ver 8.0 and later, I am not very happy with the new way the project installer is managing the additional drivers such as Serial. Will my LabView Application Builder 4.0 work with my Labview 4.1?
