installed php-4.3.3RC1 on Suse 8.2

I have installed php-4.3.3RC1 on Suse 8.2, and everything went fine
even the make install, but I do not see the new version in yast2
software packages, it still has the old version 4.3.1

any ideas ? is there another step I need to take, how do I check what
is really installed ?

ps apache is 2.0.46 and mysql is 4.1.0

I compiled my own, I have found a command php -v it tells me I have
the version I want installed, which means that yast doesnt know about
it, which is annoying but I can live with it

Apache 2.2.3 PHP 4.4.5 Install Fails
Sigh. I have Apache 2.2.3 installed and running on WinXP Pro SP2. I installed PHP 4.4.5 and added the following lines in httpd.conf PHPIniDir C:/PHP445/ LoadModule php4_module C:/PHP445/php4apache2.dll When I restarted Apache, i got this error: The Apache service reported the following error: >>> httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 488 of C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/PHP445/php4apache2.dll into server: The specified module could not be found. Turns out that php4apache2.dll requires libapr.dll, libaprutil.dll and libapriconv.dll to load. These are Apache dlls and are supposed to be present in Apache2.2\bin folder. I did not find these dlls here. I re-installed Apache 2.2.3 but the above mentioned libapr* dlls did not get installed. What else can I try? Interestingly, php5apache2_2.dll from PHP 5.2 is not dependent on above mentioned libapr* dlls and PHP 5.2 loads correctly. I must use PHP 4.* however. Thanks ...

Problem updating PHP 4.3.0 DEV to PHP 4.3.3
Hi! I had Apache 2.0.47 and PHP 4.3.0 DEV running successfully on a W2k Server. For some reason, I couldn't get PHP to read XML-Attributes with the DOM XML -functions. So I thought, it would be time to update PHP to a newer version. So I simply replaces the old php-files with the new ones and of course kept the php.ini. But now, PHP doesn't work anymore. As soon as I request a page with php code, I get a "document contains no data" error after a while. (Apache's error log looks like the excerpt at the end of this message) If I install PHP5, I can't even start Apache. Does anyone have an idea, what may go wrong here? Apache 1.3.27, PHP 4, SuSE 8.2 PRO
I've recently done an upgrade installation to SuSE PRO 8.2 from same/8.0. The problem now is that I don't seem to be receiving data from forms to PHP-processing pages using either POST or GET for the form method. When I use GET, I see that the URL has been correctly formed with the variable name embedded in the URL along with the properly formed value: http://www.whatever.com/test.php?main=showproducts&cmdGo=Process+Request Then, in a sample php script: <? print "main: $main<BR/>\n"; if ($main == "") { print "main is blank<BR/>\n"; } ?> All I get in the output HTML on the test php script is the "main: " portion of the print command - the variable is reported as a null and tests positive for a null. The php function test() shows mod_php4 is loaded. I have performed/duplicated these results with the firewall on and the firewall off. Not that I think the firewall is an issue since the GET method shows, via the URL, that the variable information is passed across forms. But I did read somewhere that a firewall can impact the POST method so I turned it off to try it - no change in the results. Even tho the info is being passed (GET), it's not accessible by var-name access in the PHP script. All the php scripts on my server are so affected and were working prior to the upgrade. Any ideas? I also suspect this is why my squirrelmail installation stopped working. Thanks! --Mike ...

Upgrading from PHP 4.2.3 to 4.3.4 consequences ?
Hi, Where can I find informations about consequences of upgrading from PHP 4.2.3 to 4.3 regarding existing PHP applications ? PGSQL 7.4.8 PHP 4.3.4 & Apache 2.0.49 Segmentation Fault with Client Certs
Hello, Having an issue that is specific to PHP compiled with PGSQL support with versions noted in subject line. I understand that there are many variables to consider here but believe I have narrowed down the Apache Client Cert failures to my PHP/PGSQL build. 1. Apache PHP without PGSQL works as expected using client certificates 2. Apache PHP with PGSQL works fine with standard SSL connections 3 Apache PHP with PGSQL fails with client certificates - no output other than Segmentation faults in the apache error logs as follows: [Wed Nov 30 23:26:57 2005] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec2) [Wed Nov 30 23:26:58 2005] [notice] Apache configured -- resuming normal operations [Wed Nov 30 23:27:05 2005] [notice] child pid 4065 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) [Wed Nov 30 23:27:06 2005] [notice] child pid 4066 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I also performed same tests on another instance of Apache/PHP/PGSQL which was version 2.0.54 of apache and PHP/PGSQL versions same as subject line with same exact results. Any ideas as to the source of this problem and suggestions for tests/fixes are greatly appreciated. There are no errors in any of the logs other than what I have included so it's very difficult to see what is wrong. All I know for sure is that I am able to reproduce the results on more than one machine. PHP pre 4.2 VS. PHP post 4.2
My local PHP install (for development/learning) is 4.3, but my hosting service uses 4.0.6. Without turning on registered globals, is there a common way these two versions can handle form data? 4.0.6 doesn't have import_request_variable(), $_POST, or $_REQUEST, and 4.3 chokes on $HTTP_POST_VARS[]. Thanks Chris 4.3 shouldn't choke on HTTP_POST_VARS - one thing you have to watch out for, however, is that HTTP_POST_VARS is not superglobal, so if you use it in a function, you still have to say global $HTTP_POST_VARS; etc... perhaps this is the reason it 'chokes'? PHP 4.2.2 and php://stdin
Hello, I am using php 4.2.2 in Red Hat 9.0 with apache 2.0.40 I try to build a php script that accepts POST requests that contain multimedia data and shoves them in a MySQL database. Installing KDE 3.2.3 on SuSE 8.2
Hi there! I have a full working SuSE 8.2 installation and would like to update to KDE 3.2.3. I have all needed rpm's for SuSE 8.2 and I am ready. I found so instructions, that seem to be too old, on how to upgrade KDE. A lot, I mean A LOT, of dependencies that will not let me install KDE 3.2.3 Would someone be so nice to tell me what I habe to do or send me a link to an actual manual about that? Like you may have noticed, it's the first time I do this :-) Thanks a lot, Sascha I did update a SuSE system to a newer KDE version quite often without any problem. 1) Put all RPMs into a separate folder and make sure that they are really for SuSE 8.2 (obvious) 2) Log out so that you are on the KDE log on screen and press Shift+Ctrl+F4 3) Log in as root 4) Type "init S" to go into single user mode 5) Go into the folder and type "rpm -Uvh *" Never try to install the packages seperately one by one!!! Always use the "*" command. Otherwise rpm cannot resolve cross-dependencies. Now, if dependencies are listed could you post them here? type "rpm -Uvh *" > output.txt to redirect the output to a file (sorry if you know that already, don't know how skilled you are in using Linux) Further hints: There might be many dependencies resulting from various dedicated software packages. For instance if you want to install kdegraphics3-tex for TeX support you obviously need the TeX packages. If you do not now what TeX is you probably d...

In my experience, it's almost impossible to do such thing. At least I couldn't. You have to upgrade tons of packages. It's easier to just upgrade the whole distro. Good luck anyway, I'll follow this thread with a lot of interest ;-) > What are the steps to take, will original php.ini be overwritten, > do i need to change Apache confg files. imagerotate problem with PHP 4.3.9
Recap: Using imagerotate within PHP 4.3.9 - PHP 5.2.0 for both XP and Linux, all using GD2 If you rotate an image 180 degrees, all is fine If you rotate an image > 0 degrees and < 180 degrees, or > 180 degrees and < 360 degrees, while the image will rotate, its dimensions are somehow not refactored and as a result you get a rather annoying black bar in the newly-rotated image, along with part of your image being cropped off. I learned about a possible workaround with ImageMagick's convert command, but has anyone found a better solution (other than using XP's built-in image rotation routines)?
