PHP 4.3.8 Install Problems on Win 2K Server

Hi All,

This is my first installation of PHP and I'm stumbling around in the dark.
I've also installed MySQL 4.0.20d.

So I'm trying to duplicate I already have running on a remote host using the
same version of PHP, 4.3.8, except on Apache.

I keep getting fatal errors such as "call to undefined function" when I know
absolutely that the functions in question are available in this version of
PHP.

Also, I'm getting this warning:
Notice: Use of undefined constant PHPSESSID - assumed 'PHPSESSID' in...

Well, I'm clueless. Can anyone give me some advice? I assume I have some
incorrect settings in my php.ini file, though I have yet to edit it. I just
went with the default installation.

BTW, I do have PHPMyAdmin up and running correctly.

Thanks!

Problem updating PHP 4.3.0 DEV to PHP 4.3.3
Hi! I had Apache 2.0.47 and PHP 4.3.0 DEV running successfully on a W2k Server. For some reason, I couldn't get PHP to read XML-Attributes with the DOM XML -functions. So I thought, it would be time to update PHP to a newer version. So I simply replaces the old php-files with the new ones and of course kept the php.ini. But now, PHP doesn't work anymore. As soon as I request a page with php code, I get a "document contains no data" error after a while. (Apache's error log looks like the excerpt at the end of this message) If I install PHP5, I can't even start Apache...

Coppermine & GD
I had not enabled GD yet, so I reconfigured and recompiled my PHP like so: ./configure --with-apxs=/www/bin/apxs --with-zlib --width-gd make make install I restarted apache, and tested out some GD-related functions and it works fine: // create a 200*200 image $img = imagecreate(200, 200); // allocate some colors $white = imagecolorallocate($img, 255, 255, 255); $black = imagecolorallocate($img, 0, 0, 0); // draw a black circle imagearc($img, 100, 100, 150, 150, 0, 360, $black); // output image in the browser header("Content-type: image/png"); imagepng($img); // free memory imagedestroy($img); .... however when I try to upload a file to Coppermine Photo Gallery I get the same old: "PHP running on your server does not support the GD image library" Is this a Coppermine issue, or a PHP configuration issue? ...

installing php 4.3.8 onto windows server 2003 with IIS 6 & multiple websites nightmare
I have various small html websites on my windows server 2003 pc, these function quite happily from directories under D:\websites via ports 81, 8081, 8091, 8082 and of course there is the dafault web site on port 80. I have installed MySQL 5.0.0 and php 4.3.8, but i can't get them to work for another website on port 8090. If I use the command line and go to c:/php and run php -i, I can see the test_info file information, including the html. If I try to run it with http://80.177.100.48/test_info.php I get 'CGI error - The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of headers' When I try to run it via http://80.177.100.48:8090/test_info.php I get a page not found 404 error. That pc's name is 'webserver', and is connected to the internet via an internal ADSL card and networked to my main pc called 'whatever'. On 'whatever' I have a test installation of phpBB2 set up on http://80.177.100.48:9999/phpBB2/ which works fine and is quite happily routed via port 9999 through 'webserver' to the 'whatever' root directory under windows XP pro. When installing and testing is finished I would like to have this running on the 'webserver' pc. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please? N. B. I forgot to mention that although I am using DNS and WINS, I'm not currently using 'Domain Controller/Active Directory' on 2003 as it makes things very slow with only a 128 mb, 1300 Mhz...

Problem getting PHP to recognize MySQL, Using PHP 4.3.7 and MySQL 4.0.20
Hi there! I have both PHP 4.0( RPM) installed and MySQL 4.0.20 installed with the mysqld daemon up and running. But when I look at the output of phpinfo() , I do not see it there, which is worrisome and so I tried to recompile PHP and do ./configure with the --with-mysql=path but I don't really know where my mysql's header files should be , is there any way to find that out by using any of the mysql commands? I did try to do ./configure for PHP4 without any parameters and when I looked at the output, I do see that PHP seems to recognize that mySQL is there : .... checking for MSSQL support via FreeTDS... no checking for MySQL support... yes checking for specified location of the MySQL UNIX socket... no checking for MySQL UNIX socket location... /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock checking for inline... (cached) inline ..... Hence, why is that when I do phpinfo() , mySQL still doesn't show up? I suspect that mysql isn't working correctly with php, because if I use the mysql_connect() function in my php, I get the error "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() " and yet it DOES seem like PHP recognizes mysql is there. That "unable to recognize mysql_connect function" error comes up after installing PHP using ./configure with or without any parameters. Please help, thanks. I am pretty sure my MySQL is properly installed because I can mysql into the server and set up my database ##-----------------------------------------------...

Problem Making php 4.3.8

imagerotate problem with PHP 4.3.9
Recap: Using imagerotate within PHP 4.3.9 - PHP 5.2.0 for both XP and Linux, all using GD2 If you rotate an image 180 degrees, all is fine If you rotate an image > 0 degrees and < 180 degrees, or > 180 degrees and < 360 degrees, while the image will rotate, its dimensions are somehow not refactored and as a result you get a rather annoying black bar in the newly-rotated image, along with part of your image being cropped off. I learned about a possible workaround with ImageMagick's convert command, but has anyone found a better solution (other than using XP's built-in image rotation routines)? Problem with Apache 1.3.28/PHP 4.3.3 on XP
Hi, I've got a strange query that I can't figure out. I've got a new installation of Apache 1.3.28 and PHP 4.3.3 on my laptop, but it doesn't appear to be processing URLs correctly. I've tried to do a direct copy of my config on my desktop (which is Apache 1.3.27 and PHP 4.3.1, I think), but I don't have access to it any more to check the config files. Apache works fine, I installed it first and tested it with several pages. They all get served nicely. PHP itself works fine, it processes and serves files correctly, with only one apparent problem. php-4.3.4-Win + Apache2 + XP
I am completely new to PHP and am finding installation the most difficult part to understand and implement. Could someone please review the rather long missive below and assist me? Is it the Apache2 server? the PHP program? both? something else?] I would like to have the DLLs only where they need to be, and to be able to remove them from the places they don't need to be. PHP 4.4.4 vs Perl 5.8.7 for Object Oriented server code
Hi, Have you run into a situation where you had to switch from PHP 4.x.x to Perl 5.x.x in order to get better performance? I am using an OO approach to PHP for my website's server code. There is one tiny script, with dozens of small objects. Each object is in a separate source file. It is a bit slow, even when the code doesn't do much DiskIO or MySQL. My webhost (NetSol) uses PHP 4.4 running on Apache 1.3 and Linux. I have to option to use Perl 5.8.7. That is the only alternative they give me at this time. Without doing the rewite, I am trying to determine if I can expect any real improvement in performance. Have you seen or do you know of such a scenario where you get better performance from Perl than from PHP? Thanks, Gerard Vignes http://www.GerardVignes.com Seattle, WA ..oO(www.gerardvignes.com) >Have you run into a situation where you had to switch from PHP 4.x.x >to Perl 5.x.x in order to get better performance? > >I am using an OO approach to PHP for my website's server code. Works very well and is quite easy to maintain and extend, but the problem is the overhead in object instantiation, since all these objects have to be created again and again with every single page request. In fact I'm kinda reaching the limit of what makes sense to do with OOP in PHP. B...

Compatibility problem, php 4 vs php 5? Using wamp 5, having some problems
Sorry if I too obviously clueles, but I'm just starting editing our web-site that was prepared by someone else. The web-site is running at a Norwegian web-hotel (www.domeneshop.no), running php 4. Our site (www.widenoja-design.no) works ok, menu-choices and all. When I serve the same files from my local disk for editing and testing, the menus no longer work. I'm running Wamp 5 with the php 4 module loaded and enabled. Any clues? Is there any directives I can put in my files to force php 4 execution? I am able to switch to another software bundle locally if you have a strong recommendation. Where you have a menu item like this http://www.widenoja-design.no/index.php?CAT=tjenester is your script accessing the choice by looking for $CAT ?
