Regular Expression for replacing images through URLs in PHP

Hi!

I want to replace images through URLs with the help of a regular expression.

For example:
<img src='http://xxxxx.net/photo/small.jpg'>

should be replaced through:
<a href='http://xxxxx.net/photo/small.jpg'>Link</a>

Another problem are emoticons, which are also included as <img>.

Therefore I would like to extend the upper regular expression that the image
should only be replaced through an URL, if the src attribute of the img tag
does not start with "/modules/emoticons/".

Thanks in advance,
Markus

Help me with a regular expression for PHP
I have no idea where to get help on RE stuff. Since it's for a PHP app I thought I would ask here to see if there was some RE pros. Basically I'm doing some template stuff and I wanted to use a preg_replace_callback function to call another function when the criteria of the RE expression is matched but have no idea how to accomplish it. So I start with this: /<(input|select|textarea)[^>]*name\s*\=\s*\"[_a-zA-Z0-9\s]*\"[^>]*>/ but need to modify it so it only matches if it has '{' characters in the name but to not match if it does not. Question on PHP regular expressions
In PHP I have many more options for functions that do regular expression than I did in Perl. My question is what is the best one to use for doing the following: Give the following: {Somestring.somestring.somestring} blah blah {somestring} value here not used {more.text.here} I want an array like the following: [0] => Somestring.somestring.somestring [1] => somestring [2] => more.text.here So basically I just want to capture the contents (alpha-numeric + periods) inside of curly braces. Regular expression example on PHP.net
Howdy folks, On this page at php.net http://www.php.net/features.http-auth there's a regular expression in Example 34.2. It's supposed to parse out the different values being passed in the header. I know what it's supposed to do, so I have a vague idea of what's being done in the RE, but I've been having a heck of a time figuring out what each part of the RE is actually doing. Here's what I have so far: preg_match_all('@(\w+)=(?:([\'"])([^\2]+)\2|([^\s,]+))@', $txt, $matches, PREG_SET_ORDER); //'@ //(\w+) Any word character (letter/digit/_), 1 or more //= Equal sign //(?: This submatch will not be captured (still available for later matching) //([\'"]) A single or double quote //([^\2]+) Not start of text (STX)?, 1 or more //\2| //([^\s,]+) Not whitespace or comma, 1 or more //) //@' I'm unclear as to what the second \2 does, as well as which parts the OR applies to. And what are the @s for? Does a lower php.ini replace an upper php.ini in the directory tree ? Activation in .htaccess necessary ?
As far as I know I can override the php settings for a certain branch of the whole directory tree by putting a additional, new php.ini in this directory. Is this true ? PHP Detects Browser, Then Replaces Images/Code/CSS
Hi guys, I just started switching my site over to tableless css, and I'm using a very lovely, transparent PNG-24 image. I have been trying to figure out if there is any way to replace an image before loading only for certain browsers using either javascript or PHP (I'm using PHP to switch stylesheets and prefer server-side). The problem is IE's handling of PNG-24 files: every other browser has alpha compatibility and displays PNG-24 images correctly, even IE/Mac. But IE/Win shows the transparent areas as blue. This is a commonly known bug that I haven't been able to find a definitive fix for. What I want to happen is for the JS or PHP to detect if the browser is IE/Win. Then, if so, replace the code or load an alternate css stylesheet to display a GIF instead of the PNG. I am mostly using the PNG-24 in a div as a background-image in an external stylesheet. Anyone had any idea if this is possible? I only have a meager understanding of javascript and PHP, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Amanda H. Images and PHP
I have a folder full with images, and for security reasons I don't want anyone to know where the folder is. So, to call images, I know there is a way to call like a PHP file instead. For example Galley 2 (a PHP-enabled photo album) safetly tucks away the actual images and in the image source, it calls for something like "main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=12&g2_serialNumber=3". How do you do that? Do you need to use the database to do this? Thank you. I forgot to say something: Is there any way to do something like this: <img src="http://www.example.com/image.php?image=car"> Yes! If it is a lot of images, I normally store them in a db and call them as needed with a script that takes that car and brings me back the image indexed to car. Let's think about why you don't want people to know where the folder is for a second. Presumably this is because you don't want all the images downloaded by guessing the url. Therefore sticking itemid in the url makes an equivelence. If you are having your images uploaded then it would be a simple job to store the ddetails of the image in a db and call them out when required. You could have an image 1.gif and give it the url /img/{filecode}.gif/as/1.gif where {filecode} is some random number, perhaps even itemid-filecode.gif. Then in the webroot you have a directory called img in which you put a ..htaccess file containing RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /img RewriteRule ^(.*)...
