I'm pleased with mine, one of the 13xx series.

Seems very well made, doesn't have a flimsy lid hinge like some lappies
seem to. Clear, bright display, although mineis a no frills model.
The only criticism i have, is that the fan is very noisy when it does
kick in.

But, a 2 year warranty to boot ....

Sorry. No experience of this one.

Not been any problems here over that period.

Was downloading some drivers yesterday, and prior to that, was looking
at the site in general without issue.

Try words of more than one syllable, or is that too much for you to
achieve.

Using an Acer Travelmate 290 for several days now.

Seems very good. Well-built, quiet/cool, long battery life, good
performance.

This one's a Centrino with 1.3GHz Pentium-M, 512MB, integrated 855
graphics, DVD/CD burner, etc.

My main gripes so far:

Windows XP Home (Pro is better) with some Acer-configured system stuff
that I find annoying (e.g. 2 partitions on HD with Acer leftover trash
in extended partition).

DVD/CD burner is slow at 2x DVD-R / (24x CD-R?) (but maybe most
notebooks are similar in having slow DVD/CD burners?).

Stupid Acer Windows Desktop screen that ultimately took Registry
hacking to fully eliminate from display (it kept showing at startup
even after setting WinXP to not show it via the XP front end GUI).

No WPA for the built-in 802.11b wireless.

Touchpad is not as smooth/slick as I'd like.

***********

(I had an Averatec 3150HS before - that one is going back to the
retailer for refund today. The Acer is a much better machine.)

seconded.

i'm, going to wipe the hard drive soon, and re-load XP on there *my*=20
way. All the drivers are available from Acer, so i doubt there'll be any=20
issues. I have the "restore" CD's to fall back on.

How did you achieve this please?
Mine does exactly the same, and i'd like to remove it too.

Similarly, but then again, i only paid circa =A3600 for my 13xx series=20
laptop, and the touchpad performance is actually *better* than i=20
expected.
