Compaq Smart Battery Reset Help Needed!!

  • Follow

I have two Compaq notebook batterys that I know are still good. There
is a problem with my Armada 1500c that caused the Smart feature to
trip the battery off during use. I had the AC adaptor plugged in while
working and the computer went "click" and just shut off. The battery
was fully charged. Stupid me not yet knowing about the internal
problem tried another battery and it too clicked off. I have replaced
the DC board inside myself but the problem continues and I can't spend
any more money on this thing as it's a celeron 366 and getting too
old. For the past year I have used a third battery with an external
charger. The notebook runs great on battery only. I don't dare to use
the AC adaptor which the dealer says is fine.
I have read about the parallel cable and software method of
resetting a battery. I can build it but don't have a clue about the
battery pinout. Another post sometime back indicated removing the
power from Smart Board in the battery to reset. I was wondering if
anyone has tried this with any success. Can the Smart Board eprom
reset with just removing power or is this totally wrong? I just want
to get the two batterys I have lost to be usable again. Any comments
would be welcome.

Thanks Tony
