Dell Latitude CPx USB question
Have a Dell Latitude CPx laptop. I can find no information about the USB on
it. I want to see if I can put a Wireless USB network adapter on it.
All the help info I can find talks about attaching some slow type devices to
it.
Looking at the Dell website, I can find no way to get e-mail support either.
All the USB drivers reference USB, and not USB2.

The service tag number is the one you want.
It's usually labeled as such, but it's typically
5 character alphanumeric.

Head over to http://tinyurl.com/muf85, and enter the Service Tag # (H307D01).
You'll see that the system was shipped in 2001, making it USB 1.0 or 1.1.
(USB 2.0 was introduced in 2002.)

Simplest way to tell is go to the control panel then to the device manager
in the USB section. No "enhanced" controller? it's USB 1.1

I had a CPxJ and had no problems with USB compatibility.
Shouldn't be any reason for the USB adapter not to work.
It will just be slow because of the USB1 interface.
Use a cardbus wireless card and you won't have that problem.

Bill,
I am not 100% that I am understanding your question. I have a Latitude C600
and I use the USB port for a wireless network adapter. I believe it is a
"generic" and if you attach the adapter it will be detected. I have the
software that came with the network adapter and just installed it.
