Help!! Removing Cover on IBM Thinkpad i series 1400

  • Follow

Hi, does anyone know the trick to removing the cover/case on an IBM Thinkpad
i series 1400? I have removed all the screws on the bottom I even have the
screen pulled out, but there is something still holding it together, and I
cannot get the bottom of the case off. I have spent 2 hours already and I
am really stuck...I can pry, but I am afraid that I might break it.

I am trying to access the inside of the cover at the back near where the AC
plugs in so that I can repair a power suppy problem, that's the reason I
want to remove the case.

Please help, if you know, or if you can point me to a good website. I have
already done a search & cannot find the answer.
Thanks,
Sammy

There is all the info that you need on the IBM website. However you
haven't provided enough info for me to find it quickly.
On the bottom of the Thinkpad you will find the machine type (4 digits)
and model number (3 digits).
Then supply it to this page
http://www.ibm.com/support/us/

Good point.
But, to be fair, sometimes finding out how to open the laptop is the
hardest part of the repair :-)

Got to the IBM website and download the manual. That's what I did. I
found the trick.
