used IBM pentium II Thinkpad.
When I plug in the power cord the amber light on the hing starts
flashing.
I turn on the power and the little green lights flash, the screen
lights up and the thinkpad logo appears.
One beep and then the computer shuts down.
It had booted normaly yesterday.
Its my college daughters computer and although I've worked on many,
many desktops, This is my first problem with a laptop
Computer was used all last year with no problem.
Any advice on where to start troubleshooting would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Try taking the battery out and then using AC only. The flashing amber
indicates a problem with charging the battery.

I took the battery out and it runs fine on AC power. Sounds like the battery
is dead? I but the battery back in and I had the same problem. The screen
lights up a short beep and it shuts down.
I'll look into a new battery.
My next problem is trying to get the drivers for the USB mass media device.
I'm trying to hook up my digital camera. (fuji finpix) Its looking for an
..INF file I believe. I tried downloading what looked right but no luck. Will
this be a file from IBM or for Win 2000???
Thanks, going on vacation and I want to use it to download pics onto.

Steve,
The driver will most likely be one from Fuji. Try going to their site and
looking under support for Win2K drivers.

Anomymous Jack
I've looked on the Internet via Google for a maintenance manual for a
Thinkpad 770 and can't find the IBM site you mention. Can you list the
site data so I can find please.
