Please help this computer novice. First, the Intranet program for the
corporation I work for does not require a server. The program
recognizes the hard phone line connected to communication port 2 only.
My IBM 560X Laptop Thinkpad type 2640-70U with Windows 98 has PCMCIA
3COM Megahertz 3CCFEM556B 10/100 Lan&56K modem. I have no problem when
the telephone line is connected to com.port 2. Now the problem. I have
downloaded all programs from Cingular Wireless and am trying to use my
Nokia 6340i cell phone with a serial cable (Nokia DLR-3P) connected to
the laptop into com port 1 and the Intranet program will not recognize
the cell phone. How can I resolve this problem? Can I change the
communication port destination?
Second problem is the Intranet program needs a dial tone for a
Handshake to start the dial-up. How can my cell phone produce the dial
tone? Can I do this manually? Any help would be appreciated.
