I have a new laptop from a small company that specializes in computers
for audio recording and production.
whenever I get a new email, the PC SPEAKER beeps--not my internal sound
card or PCMCIA audio card, but the actual PC speaker reminiscent of the
DOS days.
I'll probably end up calling the company I ordered the laptop from, but
I thought in the meantime someone here might have a quick fix...
Thanks
chris.

Check for a BIOS setting to enable/disable the speaker. In BIOS setup,
"speaker" refers to only the board speaker.
