Q: Anyone know what happens if you reverse your input polarity from
your power supply to your laptop?
A: It makes a burning plastic smell. Then it does NOTHING ever
again...
Aside from that, anyone know what usually cooks first? I've got it
apart, I've got my ohm-meter out. I don't see anything that "looks"
like a fuse. It's kind of an oddball; Olivetti Echos PC100C if that
helps. It worked great until I was in a rush and reversed one of those
universal power connectors. Now it does NOTHING when you plug it in
correctly. It's too good to throw away. Any help would certainly be
appreciated.

Hi,
That is weird, most has polarity reversal protection in the form of
diode in the power line. Maybe you burnt out that diode. It should
near the DC input line. Try to find out a component which looks burnt.
A diode.
