Scratched Screen
Does anyone know if it's possible to have a scratched lcd screen repaired?
Mine has been (I guess) scratched and a large black dot is now forming
around it.

Scratched or SHOT? <g>
If you'll Google "repair lcd scratch," you'll get a plethora of results.

A growing "large black dot" is an indicator that the display might be more
than scratched, it might be broken and the liquid matrix is leaking!
