I have a sony notebook computer which is less than a year old. A few
days ago, a thin white line appeared across the LCD display and
remained there irrespective of what program or application i ran. The
line was there even when the OS was loading and when i went into the
BIOS. Surprisingly, after being there for four days it disappeard. Has
anyone run into a problem like this or heard something about it. I'll
be happy to hear from someone.

Yes, I had a line across my notebook LCD once, like some pixels had
gone bad or something.  Since the laptop was ancient and unvaluable, I
took the screen apart, cleaned the ribbon cable connections, and
solved the problem.  However, I suspect yours is still under warranty,
so don't do that.  Maybe if it happens again send it in, if it's free.
