toshiab satellite battery safety clip is for?
I have a Toshiba Satellite 2405-S201. I have been having battery problems
and while checking the area where the battery goes and makes the electrical
connection in I accidentally knocked the little spring clip out. In an
attempt to 'bend it to make better contact' while it was out, I broke it.
Honestly it didn't take much to break. So my question is. What is it for? Do
I need it?
Here's how I got in trouble in the first place...
My battery would not hold any charge at all after about 2 years. It wouldn't
run for even a second. I bought a battery on ebay that was no better. The
gentleman was nice enough to send me another. (both used) It also didn't
work. Now I'm thinking that maybe it's not the battery etc. etc. and I ended
up breaking the clip.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated. I have searched the internet for
a replacement clip and I have narrowed it down to two part numbers that I
THINK it could be. There are no photos or descriptions, just the names which
are...
CLIP, PART# P000311050, COST $3.33 or
BATTERY SAFETY SPRING, PART# P000343570, COST $3.33
Both of which are from National Parts Depot
Thanks!!

I suspect that the ac adapter socket is broken on the motherboard as this is
a common fault , this of course will cause the battery to not charge

Thanks,
This must mean then that at the place where the AC plugs into the
motherboard, there is a separate connection for the power to the
mother-board, and the connection that eventually leads to charge the
battery?
