<?xml version="1.0" ?>

The line
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
appears at the top of about 20% of my incoming e-mail. Anyone know the
source? I get a lot of it from co-workers and would be happy to tell
them how to get rid of it.

"<?xml version="1.0" ?>" at the start of a reply in Eudora 6.0
Has anyone ever noticed the text "<?xml version="1.0" ?> " at the beginning of a message they are replying to in Eudora 6.0? I get this occasionally---not all the time. When viewing the message I'm about to reply to, this text (<?xml version="1.0" ?>) is not there. When I click on the Reply icon, Eudora inserts this in as the top line of the message I'm responding to. If I reply to the very same message in OE, Pegasus, Courier, etc., I don't see this text inserted at all. Thank you. "Trevor and Michelle Gough&...

Newbie question : Xerces (C++) How do I create the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> header
I have created a XML Writer program, and everything works, but I need to revice my code and add this "version and encoding" header for completeness and correctness... I am completely stuck! I have done this so far: DOM_Element root = xmlDoc.getRootElement(); root.setAttributes ("xmlns","etc.etc."); Do I have to previous root called "?" - but this doesn't make much sense as the tag begins "<?xml" and ends "?>" From scouring the web, I believe that I coding with a legacy version of xerces-c. (hence DOM_Element) I cannot ch...

c++ <vector> version of fortran "merge" or "where"
Hi, I have several <vector>'s of the same length, with entries as follows: I=[0,3,6,0,5,3,0] A=[1,2,3,4,5,6,7] B=[2,3,4,5,6,7,8] I want to use STL to make (I == 0) a mask to operate on the elements of A and B, i.e. I want to do this: for (int i=0;i<I.size();i++){ if ( I[i] == 0 ){ A[i] = 0; B[i] = 0; } } In fortran 90 it would be easy: A = merge( 0, A, I==0 ) B = merge( 0, B, I==0 ) Can anybody point out how to do it in C++? I don't see how replace_if can do it. Thanks in advance, Sean Dettrick "Sean Dettrick" <sdettrick@hotmail.com> w...

"Correct" term for a 1:1 relationship between a "database" and an "instance" where > 1 such things are on the same physical server?
What is the "correct" term for a 1:1 relationship between a "database" and an "instance" where there are at least two such "things" on the same physical server? Nearly all the Oracle docs and books define a database something like the following: DATABASE - a collection of datafiles and oracle config files; useless without an "instance" to access the database. INSTANCE - a collection of background procs and memory structures, used to access a "database." Where I work, people typically call each "thing" mentioned in my Sub...

Using DVD format "UDF" or "UDF/ISO" in Nero? UDF version 1.02, 1.5 or 2.0?
I need to backup a huge file (> 2GB) on a DVD+RW. Thus I have to use the UDF format because ISO is only defined for files smaller than 2 GB. However Nero offers two formats UDF and UDF/ISO. What is the difference? Which one is more safe? Which is more compatible with other DVD-Readers/Burners hardware? Which is more used? Furthermore if I want to use pure UDF I have the choice between different versions: 1.02, 1.5 and 2.0 I guess in the meanwhile nearly all DVD burners (and readers) understand version 2.0. Am I right? Is version 2.0 necessary or are only some gimmicks...
