Get rid of AM/PM time

I do not see any way in Alpine to get a "SMARTDATE", but without
the Americanisms.

Suggestive patch that just removes the offender and exchanges
it by What I Wanted.

I have to ask where you don't get 24-hours time?
All mine times are presented in the 24-hours time, could it be that you
haven't set your LC_* correctly for your login session? Do you get the right
time presentation when you run date?

I think this observation is correct. After setting my locale (LC_*)
correctly to my (European, non-English) wishes, I get 24h format and days'
names in my own language. Only "Yesterday" and such are untranslated, but
that would require l10n work on alpine (which I would be happy to
contribute to by doing translations).

How to get rid of Quick Time ??
This is a problem that has bugged me for over a year. I NEVER use the program called Quick Time. I have NEVER put it in my Start Up folder. Yet, it runs in the background all the time, and the icon shows in my system tray. I run msconfig and delete the entry, but it will show back up the next day. I go to Add/Remove programs, but it is not listed there. For the life of me, I can't figure out where it comes from and how it adds itself to my start up list and runs in the background. If anyone can help me with this I would be grateful. time to get rid of unsigned?
I knew that unsigned integral data types were the cause of scads of mostly spurious warning messages, but I didn't realise that they were a security risk too (see here http://www.securitytracker.com/alerts/2004/Feb/1009067.html). All for one measly extra bit. where does Mail get it's time from?
In Mac OS X.2 (aka Jaguar) using built in Mail, does anyone know how to change the time stamp that Mail puts on outgoing messages? I tried changing the system clock in System Preferences->Date and Time and it doesn't seem to effect Mail's time stamp... How do you get rid of the outbox in Mail.app?
Help says it disappears after you exit mail. It didn't. I tried logging off. Still there. I tried rebooting. Still there!! Rebuilding doesn't help either. Normally, I haven't seen the outbox. If it has appeared in the past it hasn't lingered. Now it is just sitting there. It perhaps has an unsent message there which it is trying to send but is failing to do so? If you, possibly by mistake, clicked a Try later button on a notice that can come up after a failure to send, the outbox will appear and stay there. Have you clicked on the Outbox to see what is inside it? If there is something *and you delete it*, the next time you startup Mail.app, it should disappear. -- dorayme In article <dorayme-B88D7E.11280101042013@news.albasani.net>, dorayme <dorayme@optusnet.com.au> wrote: > In article <bob-DB9E1E.19310431032013@5ad64b5e.bb.sky.com>, > Robert Peirce <bob@peirce-family.com> wrote: > > > Help says it disappears after you exit...

Mail refuses to get mail
2 weeks ago I noticed that Mail.app didn't get the mail from 1 of my 2 IMAP accounts (set to collect mail every 5 minutes). The other account, on the same server continued working normally. The problem was solved after a reboot. Yesterday the other account was stuck in the same way. This time a relaunch of Mail.app sufficed. Strange and nasty problem. Anyone experiencing similar problems? Any permanent solutions except switching to another e-mail client? (I am considering Thunderbird now). It's time to get rid of Windows
<Quote> Some people out there used no fewer than six Windows botnets to go after this one guy....How did this happen? It happened because Windows is an insecure piece of junk. Anyone who knows anything about security knows that this kind of disaster was only a matter of time. Windows botnets are responsible for DDoS attacks and most of e-mail spam. You cannot secure Windows. Microsoft keeps saying that they will, and they always fail. Period. Windows has been insecure since day one and it's still going to be insecure when Windows 7 shows up. Perhaps it's time to start blocking Windows PCs from the Internet. Sound crazy? Yes, I agree. But, I'll tell you something else that's crazy. It's crazy that whole sections of the Internet can be shut down by a few people controlling huge Windows botnets for petty, personal reasons. </Quote> http://blogs.computerworld.com/14510/its_time_to_get_rid_of_windows?page=1 nessuno <nessuno7491@gmail.com> writes: > <Quote> > Some people out there used no fewer than six Windows botnets to go > after this one guy....How did this happen? Check mail: Why do I have to do it twice to get my mail?
Setup: XP Pro, Eudora 6.1.2.0, POP3, 3 megabit cable modem Almost always when I open Eudora it retrieves one or two messages and then stops the retrieval process. The new messages are displayed in the In box normally. In order to retrieve the rest of my messages I have to click the "Check Mail" button, after which the rest of my mail is downloaded, sometimes scores of messages. I'm puzzled as to why I have to do this. Surely Eudora should be retrieving ALL my mail on the server when I launch the program? BTW, I have determined that this has nothing to do with Eudora pausing to allow the disk to spin up. How do I get time in another time zone ??

Any suggestions how I can get the time in the EDT timezone, and ideally in the format shown. dave Dave wrote: > I'm in the UK using British Summer Time (BST). You most likely want something like: clock format [clock seconds] -format "%x %X %Z" \ -timezone :America/New_York -locale en_US You'll notice that -locale deals with punctuation differences (and details like month-first vs. day-of-month-first), while -timezone deals specifically with time zone. -locale and -timezone need Tcl 8.5 or later. If you're stuck on 8.4, you can either play games with $env(TZ) or get the 'newclock' extension. -- 73 de ke9tv/2, Kevin ...

I don't know how deep you want to go into precision, but just a hint: Windows system time quant is 50ms, this is the smallest quant you can get any *real* results. Below that you are getting the bogus = (myTime mod 50) + a spice from the floating part of the number (to do not show all zeros at the end every time).
