odd issue -- sendmail will not write/cat email to users mail file

I am running into a really weird issue where my local accounts wont get any
mail. I have set the LogLevel to 30 to see if I could figure out why but
nothing is there. It's as if the emails are getting sent to /dev/null

The email is accepted and sendmail does say sent but when I look at the
/var/spool/mail directory all the accounts have zero bytes.

Am I missing something ? Any can help please ?

Mail will not send mail but will receive mail
At work I have a Wallstreet with Jaguar connected to a DSL line. Up until a couple days ago I have been able to use my personal ISP smtp address to send and receive mail. This is not the same company as the DSL provider. A couple days ago I was able to receive posts but not send them. I tried repairing permissions, and trashing the Mail prefs. Finally I emailed my ISP and the response was that I have to use the DSL carrier's smtp address. Yet, I've been using my personal ISP's smtp address for about a year. At home I use a dialup with the ISP and everything works fi...

Importing mail from Unix mail file
I receive e-mail from a pop3 server. When I was having trouble with the server, I had to download one large mail file from the server (instead of getting the individual messages through pop3). Now, I would like to have the messages in that large mail file read by Eudora, so that they are treated as incoming mail (i.e., read individually, run through Spamnix, and run through my filters). Is this possible? Thanks, Gabriel "G.R. Toro" <toro@riskengXYZ.com> wrote: > I receive e-mail from a pop3 server. Is this possible? * Exit Eudora, copy the big mail file into one of the folders where Eudora's normal mailboxes are stored, rename the big mail file so that it has the extension .mbx, and start Eudora again. The mail file will most probably show up as Mailbox in Eudora. You can open it and access messages individually. * You can change filters to the "manual" type, then select all messages in the new mailbox and select "Special-Filter Messages". The manual filters will then be applied to the selected messages. * I don't kno...

[Eudora and Mail] Importing e-mail into Mail ?
Hi, After many years using Eudora, I think it is time to switch. Eudora is corrupting its mailboxes, old messages tend to mix up and become unreadable. This is unfortunate as otherwise Eudora does the right things for me. So the questions are : - which e-mail app do you recommend (on a PowerBook G4/667, 10.4.10) ? - I am currently trying Mail; succeeded in importing the Eudora mailboxes except the Inbox (1GB) -> how do I import it ??? Mail client which will leave mail on server?
I'm looking for a POP mail client which has the option not to delete the mail on the server. I tried Kmail, and it has this option, however it also then downloads all the messages again next time it connects. I really don't need two copies of every mail, so does anyone know of a mail client, KDE compatible, which can leave the mails on the server, and yet is smart enough not to download mails it already has? Somewhat overkill , but you could run fetchmail and IMAP on your own box, then have each account connect to a localhost IMAP server. That would keep things in sync, although it's fairly complex as a solution. Cheers, Ian ...

If the message is not delivered, it is probably being rejected and you should get a bounce in the return address. If you do not get a bounce, maybe your Linux server is still retrying and the message is trapped in a queue. To analyse your problem and have a quick answer to what it can be, you may want to try this class that comes with a wrapper function named smtp_mail(). It emulates the mail() function so you can replace it without further changes. You just need to set it to direct delivery mode, so it tries to send to your Exchange server immediately instead of leaving in your local queue. If the message is rejected, you will get a self-explanatory error message that can tell you what is going on. http://www.phpclasses.org/mimemessage You also need this: http://www.phpclasses.org/smtpclass -- Regards, Manuel Lemos Free ready to use OOP components written in PHP http://www.phpclasses.org/ Hello, On 10/13/2003 03:29 AM, Tanya wro...

Emails blocked by certain mail hosts? (mail() function)
I'm using mail($address,$subjectheading,$message,"From: me@mysite.com") to send emails from my site. For the most part, it works okay (for example, I receive the mail in my Yahoo box). But when I check my university email, the message is not delivered. I thought maybe it was because I had included my web address in the subject heading and that it was being filtered out, but I removed that from the subject and it still fails to get through. I'm making a wedding site for some friends now and they want to be able to email everyone on their guest list at once, but I'm afraid the same will happen to some of these addresses as well. Any comments/suggestions on what may be blocking the mail and how I can get around it? I'm not trying to send out any kind of mass ad mailings or anything. Just to people on a mailing list for this site. Hello, On 01/19/2004 02:36 PM, Jonathan wrote: > I'm using mail($address,$subjectheading,$message,"From: > me@mysite.com") to send emails from my site.
