Problem with compiling sendmail 8.13.3 on AIX 5.1

Hello all!

I cannot compile sendmail 8.13.3 on my AIX 5.1 (Maintenance Level 7). I am
using
gcc compiler (gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)). When I run "sh Bulid",
I get these messages:

It seems as if the sendmail "Build" command on your AIX works
with the installed C/CPP compiler which doesn't understand
the commands to compile the cpp sources.
I cannot see the GNU-GCC suite in the install list, maybe
you should install it first.
Also you might try to put the Statement
APPENDDEF(`confCC', , `-I/usr/local/bin/gcc')dnl
as an option for the sendmail make process in
the file:
<sendmail source-tree>/devtools/Site/site.config.m4
(see <sendmail source-tree>/devtools/README for more options)
and then recompile sendmail with "./Build -c".

I'm not really the AIX specialist, and maybe another one
could take over if this doesn't help.

See devtools/README:
confDEPEND_TYPE generic How to build dependencies. This should
....
You need to change that if you use gcc on AIX.

That might be a problem with your gcc installation, something
like "fixincludes" is maybe required?

Thank's for your answer. But I have in devtools/OS/AIX.5.1 writted:

define(`confDEPEND_TYPE', `AIX')

and in devtools/M4/depend/AIX.m4 I have:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------
# $Id: AIX.m4,v 8.2 1999/05/28 05:54:26 gshapiro Exp $
depend: ${BEFORE} ${LINKS}
 @mv Makefile Makefile.old
@sed -e '/^# Do not edit or remove this line or anything below it.$$/,$$d'
< Makefile.old > Makefile
@echo "# Do not edit or remove this line or anything below it." >> Makefile
 changequote([,])
 for i in ${SRCS}; \
 do \
  ${CC} -M -E ${COPTS} $$i > /dev/null; \
  cat `basename $$i .c`.u >> Makefile ; \
  rm -f `basename $$i .c`.u ; \
 done;
 changequote

# End of $RCSfile: AIX.m4,v $
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------
But I cannot find any *.u files on my sendmail source and on my all system
too.

Can I edit devtools/M4/depend/AIX.m4 file without ".u" or I must edit
devtools/OS/AIX.5.1 with:

define(`confDEPEND_TYPE', `generic')

???

Use devtools/Site/site.config.m4 (as explained in devtools/README),
e.g., try:

undef(`confDEPEND_TYPE')
define(`confDEPEND_TYPE', `generic')

FreeBSD-5.3 sendmail-8.13.5 Build/Compile problems

Sendmail problems after upgrade from 8.11.1 -> 8.13.3
Hi everyone I have upgrade our sendmail from version 8.11.1 to 8.13.3. After that I am facing problems with some incoming mails. We are using special mailer called Mail Gateway (mgw). It should get all incoming mails addressed like this: <what_ever_number_token@mgw.mydomain.com> (for example the address can be: 12345@mgw.myhost.com) should be routed to port 1234 from where mgw gets the mail. A semi-common cause of deliverable (in particular locally deliverable) mail not being delivered is that sendmail thinks the load average of the system is too high do do anything other than queue the mail - from cf/README: confQUEUE_LA QueueLA [varies] Load average at which queue-only function kicks in. Sendmail 8.13.4 and AIX 5.3
I just set up an AIX 5.3 system and I'm trying to install sendmail 8.13.4. So far its been a non-starter. Before I go crazy, I noticed that there doesn't seem to be an OSTYPE for AIX 5.3. Can sendmail 8.13.4 run on AIX 5.3 yet? If its not an AIC 5.3 issue.... Problem with masquerading a senders' address using the /etc/mail/genericstable in sendmail 8.13.1
Hello, I have been struggling with trying to masquerade a senders' e-mail address using sendmail 8.13.1 on RedHat ES 4 (update 5). I am using the genericstable and my table looks like this: a02228 mmchugh@arrow.com a02228@localhost mmchugh@arrow.com a02228@usmlrh81.arrow.com mmchugh@arrow.com I also rebuilt the genericstable.db file via makemap hash /etc/mail/ genericstable < /etc/mail/genericstable and it worked no issue. I am trying to have any outbound mail coming from the unix user a02228 get re-written as being sent by mmchugh@arrow.com. l modified the sendmail.mc file with the following entries: MASQUERADE_AS(`arrow.com')dnl FEATURE(`masquerade_envelope')dnl FEATURE(`genericstable', `hash /etc/mail/genericstable')dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(localhost)dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(localhost.localdomain)dnl I then make make -C /etc/mail which re-built the sendmail.cf file. This worked and I also tried the m4 rebuild which did the same thing, but I had to manually move the newly built sendmail.cf file in. I guess redhat provides the wrapper to move the file in via make. I also restarted the sendmail services so the new configuration file is read in via services sendmail restart. This too worked without error. Sendmail.cf is updated with the following information: # Generics table (mapping outgoing addresses) Kgenerics hash /etc/mail/genericstable After I do all of this, it still doesn't work. I send an e-mail on the unix / linux...

sending e-mail to oneself (w/ sendmail 8.13.8+Sun/8.13.8)
Hello everyone, I hate to ask a basic question. But I already spent two weeks. I think I have suffered enough to post a question. I have been using Solaris 9 (SPARC) for years. My sendmail.mc with older sendmail worked okay for years. Now I updated my machine to Solaris 10, which comes with a newer version of sendmail (8.13.8). I tried my old sendmail.mc (with some tweaks) but it didn't work. So, I reverted the changes I made, one by one. Finally, I used the original sendmail.mc that comes with Solaris 10. It still didn't work. The problem I'm having is that I cannot send e-mails to myself. (Mail client == Mail host) I tried: # /usr/lib/sendmail -v myself </dev/null It hangs. The mail is stored in a spool because sendmail failed to deliver. I can see it by using 'mailq' command. Eventually the e-mail is forwarded to 'root' as an undeliverable e- mail (from MAIL-DAEMON). 553 5.3.5 mailhost.my_domain.com config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)554 5.3.5 Local configuration error As you my suspect, I can send an e-mail to somebody else (local). // My question is: What is the correct sequence should occur when sending e-mail to oneself? How can I debug this problem? (After e-amil is submitted to a mail spool) // The newer version of sendmail now uses 'submit.cf'. I'm suspecting that sendmail puts e-mails into a spool even the e-mail doesn't need any relaying. As my understanding of sendmail is very shallow, I'...

KRB5 1.5 or 1.6 compiled on AIX 5.2/5.3 #2
I have seen several emails from different people over the last few months on trying to get KRB5 1.5 or later to compile on AIX 5.x. And no responses that fix the problem. Wasn't really the solution I came up with; but it worked. You might be correct since now the OpenSSL binaries will not build against the Kerberos libraries currently. libssl and libcrypto build fine along with everything else; but the actual openssl binary fails. Phil, Have you successfully linked OpenSSL with the new Kerberos libraries ? Compile problem Sendmail 8.13.6
Hi, I did the upgrade as usual, with my config file. I rebuild the m4 config, etc. I have a backup but still I would prefer to upgrade completely... If I do a telnet on my server, it will tell "ESMTP Sendmail 8.13.4/8.13.6" If I run, this command: "/usr/sbin/sendmail -bt -d0" The version reported is 8.13.4 Everything works fine, my mail server is running and can send/receive email, but the binary of sendmail was not upgraded. I re-compile and here is what I found in the middle of all the compilation stuff only for sendmail...
