Soundcard for use with Midi controller keyboard
I've recently bought a midi controller keyboard (Studiologic SL990)
with the intention of using it through my computer. Currently though
my computer only has onboard soundcard ("Sounblaster compatible" is
about all the information I could find about it!) and I'm guessing
this is the cause of my problems??....
When playing a single note everything seems ok, no noticeable latency
or anything. But when I start playing properly it gets a bit confused:
notes stay on after the key has been released, or don't play when its
pressed, crackling sounds etc.. And its generally not a nice sound!
All I really want to be able to do is play *realtime* piano, and
perhaps a little bit of recording and multiple track business. If it
is my current soundcard thats the problem what soundcard should I
get.. would I be ok with one of the Soundblaster Live! range (and if
so, which?).
Sorry if this question is similar to many others already posted, but I
can't seem to find a definitive answer (though maybe there isn't one!)
Thanks,
Cosmo

Your keyboard is, as you say, just a controller. What is actually
producing the sound?

The soundcard on my computer.. which is just a basic on board thingy,
and I think thats the problem. Was wondering if anyone had any good
advice on better soundcards for playing realtime with a controller
keyboard?
