Linux blows for any type of serious digital audio work.

Trying to run a studio under current versions of Linux is like trying
to build the Golden Gate Bridge with a Gilber Erector Set and a
picture of the bridge.

It's a nightmare.

The Linux tools are so crude compared to the Mac it's not even a
contest.

Basically you have to debug, build, fix, configure all the tools
yourself and get them working before you can even think about actually
recording something.

Then if you ask for help from the authors, or the Linux community, you
are denegrated, called an idiot and other names just because you may
not be a programmer who is interested in desiging a program.

Shit, all I want to do is pre-roll and get going!!

Someday when the geeks are all dead Linux may be a contender for DAW
work, but for now it is a bad joke and only an idiot would choose it
over Mac or even Windows.

So, don't use Linux for digital audio work. I don't do digital audio work,
and I find that Linux fits my needs pretty well, so I use it.

Linux is a joke, no matter what the application.
Assuming of course you can actually FIND a commercial quality
application for Linux.

Gee, i use my "joke" OS for my livelyhood. I am a web application developer
and system administrator. I don't go near MS windows, at home or at work.

All general statements are false. :-)

That means static and expensive, right?

You are wrong. There is a reason that where I worked (I retired in March),
in a DOD test facility, we relied heavily on Linux. It is very good for
scientific data analysis. I also find it to be completely satisfactory for
a home desktop - for one thing it does not crash. Mozilla works faster and
better than IE (tabbed windows and ability to kill pop-ups, for one
thing). The mail services work better with MSN mail than the MS
alternatives. Gnumeric and Abiword handle all my Office needs. etc, etc,
etc.

Gee whizz!
You've actually accomplished all this and you're only 14 years old?
Kudos!

Maybe Arny can hire you (strictly on no matter what cure-never pay
basis of course)

RTFM. If you can't, then stick to your Mac. Why did you switch anyway?

You mean like all the commercial applications that are full of bugs and
prone to virus attacks?

Wouldn't that be neat, though? I could relive my highschool and college
years and maybe correct some stupid mistakes I made way back then. :-)
