Maybe I should toss a few dimes, as a "donation", to The Largest Cult in the
world: GNU/GPL.

They earned a lot of money - again.

<quote>
The company post an adjusted profit of 77 cents per share on sales of $19.95
billion, up from 74 cents EPS on sales of $19 billion in the year-ago
quarter. Analysts were expecting EPS of 68 cents and revenue of $19.14
billion.

The nice sales boost came mostly from Microsoft's entertainment division,
which saw 55% growth over the quarter thanks to holiday sales of the Kinect
for Xbox 360, Xbox Live subscriptions and Xbox games.

Microsoft Windows revenue still increased only 3 percent year on year, less
than company watchers had been expecting. PC sales growth is expected to
slow down a bit this year, and this could affect related technology such as
desktop operating systems, including Windows.

The good news on the software front is that sales for the Microsoft Business
Division, which includes Office, increased 24 percent, boosted by demand for
Office 2010, launched in June.

What I get from all this is:

XBox is doing well. (Check out the profit in XBox live subscriptions)
Windows sales were basically flat. That's tied strongly to PC sales and
those are down most likely from things like tablets and even smart-phones.
But then sales of MS-Office are up huge.
