Novell Forge

  • Follow

Novell has a software Forge that I am liking a lot.

I added my project to it:

http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?supratext

I started to work with sourceforge, but I found their check in/out and
management process arcane. With Novell forge I can just upload files via
a web form.

OMG, you gotta be kidding, right? You seriously prefer clicking the
files one-by-one into a web form instead using CVS?

Get real. You're /not/ a serious software developer.

Greetings,
Johannes

Shh. Don't tell Microsoft; you'll give them ideas for the next
rev of VSS... :-)

If it's so easy to upload files, why aren't there any files on the
Novell server for your project?

Try TortoiseCVS or SimpleCVS. They're great clients.

Oh, it's starting already. Budget cutbacks at Novell meant some projects
had to go. Chapter 11 is around the corner!

Well -- maybe the paint is not quite dry on this yet.

Will do.

Thanks for the tip.

Actually, I meant SmartCVS, not SimpleCVS. SmartCVS is Java-based and
has the SSL built-in.

I, too, was massively confused when I started with Sourceforge.net
until I got the whole CVS thing figured out. It made managing my projects
much easier.

:)

I don't know... you really shouldn't be talking about uptime (for
Novell or anyone else).

Blew a breaker. Was at 173 days.

I think they were accidently put on the NW 3.12 server running IPX
with IP tunnelling, which isn't connected through the webserver
gateway.

Ok, my fault.

I forgot to mark the release as public.

Also, I have a new domain name:

http://supratext.texeme.com/

should take you right there...
