Was at the pub for our clubs championship win, and saw this Brit using a
phone that looked oddly familiar. What is it? A Palm Pre Plus, he says, and
then he gets excited describing it to me, saying it's the best phone he's
ever used, and he's a cell phone salesman. Compared it enthusiastically to
the iPhone.
So I pull out my Palm Pixi+ and show it to him, telling him I like it, too,
and that you can get a Linux command line.
Nice to see it in the wild. I hope HP can keep it alive.

It looks nice but, for me, the Nokia N900 is still the best.

My Pixi saved my ass at the RiverDogs (baseball) game last night.
Baseball, though I loved it as a kid, now bores me to tears. So I
spent some time downloading free apps from Preware. Installed a terminal,
bash, ssh, and a couple games.
Saw Bill Murray dressed up like a hot dog, too.

Out of interest, why were you at a baseball game if you don't like it?
I'm addicted to Angry Birds on my N900.

You must have looked like a freaking idiot playing with a phone during
a baseball game.
What a goober!

1. They were supposed to be honoring our local pro soccer club, the
Charleston Battery, who won the USL-2 division (after self-relegation
due to a partial league breakup and to save on onerous travel
expenses.)
2. Spousal request to meet up with friends.
3. At least I got to eat a couple great hot dogs and have a couple Ranger
IPAs.
4. It's only once or twice a year.
> I'm addicted to Angry Birds on my N900.
Oh, I never mentioned what happened when the Battery played the Bolton
Wanderers (July 14). Bolton was obviously much bigger and stronger, and
had more technique than our players. But the Battery played pretty tough.
They ended up losing 2-nil, which was about what I expected to happen.
It was very nice to see an EPL team up close.

Local hero ball player is smashing a 3-run homer, and while the crowd
stands and cheers Linosuck stays in his seat looking down at his phone
playing World of Goo.

Haha!
I wonder if Liarmutt's wife has to have him on a leash so he doesn't
run out on the field and start fetching the ball.

Especially such a girly one. The "pixi" indeed ...
Why doesn't he have an Android and give back to the Linux community?

Here iPhones are getting less popular than before. In the bus or train I
see a lot of people using Sony Xperia and phones like that. Not too much
iPhones.

I would query that. Here iPhones out number others by factors. The
Android based phones might be gaining but iPhones are still selling and
they had a hell of a head start.

In spite of all the hype, I have yet to see a single iPhone in the wild
around here. I know there are some because I see people dumping them on
Craig's List. But I haven't seen one in anyone's hand outside of a
retailer's.
I could probably remedy that if I ended up in some artsy place where
guys with tiny clefts of chin hair hang out and look at each other,
nodding approval all around, as they all sit with their iPhones, iPads,
iPods, iBooks and iBrains, tapping and swiping in synchronous cadence,
moving their fingers across screens and drinking what spewage passes
for coffee in the chains where such people congregate.
