Maybe he can take over RonB aka Ron Bambi's herd. Ron Bambi is always in
someone's headlights.

I am being stalked by a roadkill home user named Ron Bambi. What
relevance do you have as a stalking roadkill home user, Ron Bambi?
Nothing from nothing leaves nothing, you got to have something and you
don't have anything -- that's you Ron Bambi. All you got is stalking me.

I found this concluding statement very reassuring:
SCO has managed to stay alive for years despite its consistent losses in
court, leading one bankruptcy judge to compare SCO's plight to Samuel
Beckett's famous play Waiting for Godot. It's unlikely that the
bankruptcy courts will allow SCO's charade to continue now that two
judges and one jury have all concluded that SCO does not own the SVRX
UNIX copyrights on which its litigation is predicated.
Let me guess, all that the Wintrolls have left is ad hominem attack on
Linux advocacy posters, seeing their Trojan horse has been pwned.

What you mean is that you *wish* you were being stalked by... anyone.
That would mean that you were relevant.

I hope it's over, but SCO has managed to go seven years with absolutely
nothing and, since their lawyers are apparently on the hook forever, I
think they're still going to keep it going.

On a related note -- SCO stock is now worth less than five cents. I
guess that means it costs almost more to print the stock than its worth.

There are no Linux/OSS advocates on cola. Not one.

And nobody here is employed by MS or an affiliate - except maybe you.

Some of us here use Linux systems every day. Some of us show Linux
systems to others, every day. Some of us use OSS such as Open Office,
Apache, MySQL and other OSS. Some of show others that very OSS we are
using, and also explain how easy it is to use and maintain, and the cost
savings that can be realized. I am one of these people.(snip)

This NG has a lot of core manics in it that's for sure. Every last one
of them needs to be locked-up -- up under asylum. None of them should be
allowed in society.

Every time you change your name (and they're always so "creative," BTW)
I think maybe this time the little troll has learned a little and got a

No, Rick did not. But "Hadron" did.

Microsoft must have been swirling in the murky thoughts of "Hadron".

Glogg (a traditional Scandinavian holiday drink):
	fifth of dry red wine
	fifth of Aquavit
1 and 1/2 inch piece of cinnamon
	10 cardamom seeds
	1 cup raisins
	4 dried figs
1 cup blanched or flaked almonds
a few pieces of dried orange peel
	5 cloves
	1/2 lb. sugar cubes
Heat up the wine and hard stuff (which may be substituted with wine
for the faint of heart) in a big pot after adding all the other stuff EXCEPT
the sugar cubes. Just when it reaches boiling, put the sugar in a wire
strainer, moisten it in the hot brew, lift it out and ignite it with a match.
Dip the sugar several times in the liquid until it is all dissolved. Serve
hot in cups with a few raisins and almonds in each cup.
N.B. Aquavit may be hard to find and expensive to boot. Use it only
if you really have a deep-seated desire to be fussy, or if you are of Swedish
extraction.

I asked "who is bankrolling SCO" because I really do wonder who is
bankrolling them. Would I be surprised to find out it is Microsoft? No.
OTOH, it may well be someone else, or a group of others. I just wonder
who it is.

It is not my fault that you continually jump to erroneous conclusions.

Add me to that list. I'll have my netbook out on the bus, working on my
music appreciation textbook (with OpenOffice, Firefox and Chrome,
Rhythmbox, and Scribus open simultaneously), and someone will interrupt
my work or play and ask me about my computer. They ask me how much it
cost to upgrade to 7 Ultimate and I gladly tell them that I use Ubuntu.
About 75% of people ask "what's THAT??" One even said "I ain't never
heard of no Windows Ubuntu edition." People seem most impressed with the
startup time ... even with a non-critical startup bug on my Acer which
slows down the boot, it still boots faster than any other computer I've
ever used. (Free troll chow: it's the "no wmi devices detected" bug.)
Then they ask about my internet access: I use an AT&T Quicksilver modem,
and thanks to some nice folks at Pharscape.org, it works in Ubuntu.

At the school I work at, I've had some of the IT folks ask me about
Ubuntu. The computers at the school are almost 6 years old now, running XP
slower than a snail's pace: sometimes it takes 10 seconds or longer just
for the computer to realize that a mouse button was clicked and it needs
to raise a window to active level. If the browser is running Flash, it
can be even longer. Frequently students think the computers are locked up
and reboot. Signs are now placed in the computer lab: "Be patient with
the computers: Don't report a computer lockup error unless the screen has
been frozen for more than 5 minutes."

Since the mainstream support for Windows XP ended back in April 2009, and
the school apparently didn't pay Microsoft's support price for extended
support on all the machines campus-wide, IT has largely had to go it
alone. I suggested taking 2 machines in the computer lab and installing
Ubuntu on them. Then they could compare and make an informed decision.

Ron Bambi thinks he is relevant. So he made the post looking for his
COLA-Ass-Kiss-Two-Step buddies to kiss his ass and make him feel good.
That was the relevance and the essence of his post and nothing else.

Where are these lies and hatred?

Or do you think liking Debian is "lies and hatred"? You want lies and
hatred? Look at your own or chrisv's or hpt's or Roy's posts. You will
find LOTS of lies and hatred there. I dont hate anyone or anything. I
do, however, thoroughly dislike lying hypocrites.

I don't get it either?
I could care less what SCO, Novell, Apple, Android,
does.

I'll use the products if I like them and will not use
their products if they don't fit my needs.

Unlike Linux nuts, it's not some kind of religious cause

It's a matter of public record. Microsoft arranged funding through a
private venture capital fund (Bay Star?). According to the manager of
that fund, Microsoft promised to "make good" the "investment".
Because this fund is private, the names of the key stake-holders do
not need to be disclosed in public documents. It appears that IBM and
several of SCO's creditors are demanding a list of those investors,
because if they can tie the fund to "deeper pockets" such as Microsoft
executives, or Warren Buffet or someone similar, they may have legal
grounds to go after those investers based on the fact that they
directed the fund manager to make the investment.

Microsoft may still be vulnerable, because they helped arrange the
funding for a lawsuit which they knew that SCO probably couldn't win.
Since the attacks damaged IBM's ability to offer Linux on their
desktops and laptops, and resulted in lost sales when the lawsuits
were originally filed, it's likely that IBM could be allowed to name
Microsoft as a co-defendent in the countersuit.

> ... why ...
> ... someone must be making money from this ... how?

Microsoft has generated roughly $40 billion per year since 2003.
Roughly $280 billion in revenue, some portion of which would probably
NOT have been received if IBM had continued to aggressively pursue
it's strategy of transitioning to "Linux on Everything" including
Servers, Mainframes, Desktops, and Laptops.

Public statements made by Sam Palmisano starting when he took over the
helm of the company, indicated that he was not particularly pleased
with an arrangement where Microsoft was making 85% profits while IBM
was subsidizing it's Desktop and Laptop business - and only making
10-15% profits. By 2003, Microsoft was openly trying to sabotage
IBM's Lotus products and IBM was pushing back, telling customers,
clients, and employees NOT to install Windows XP service pack 2,
because it contained numerous pieces of code designed to sabotage IBM
products such as Lotus Notes, SmartSuite, SameTime, and several third
party products, including newer versions of Java. IBM was also
balking at forced upgrades from MS-Office 2000 to MS-Office 2003 and
was fighting hard for continued support for Windows 2000, primarily
because it was faster, more memory efficient, and 3rd party security
products such as I-Zone and Norton/Symantic provided better security
than what was being provided by Microsoft's attempts at security
products.

Microsoft may have been hoping that a continued shadow of fear and
doubt might extend their ability to offer Vista and Windows 7 without
competition supported by IBM, such as Red Hat, Google, Oracle, and
Novell.

IBM sold it's ThinkPad and low-end desktop line to Lenovo, but still
functions as a VAR and still offers it's high-end Intellistation line,
which is offered with Linux and/or Windows.

IBM has aggressively supported Linux, offering it's "Open Client"
package, which includes Lotus Notes, Symphony, Sametime, and quickr,
as well as support for VPNs, and commercially licensed intellectual
property that makes it possible for Linux users to view movies, view
true-type fonts, and honor DRM licenses.

IBM has also based most of their new client interfaces on Eclipse, and
makes sure that these clients work well on Red Hat, Novell, and Ubuntu
Linux, as well as Windows XP. IBM did not formally support Vista, and
may charge a premium for supporting Windows 7.

That's all I can say, that is based on public disclosures.

There were a few WinTrolls cheering on SCO, but most were actually
relatively silent.
Sure, they were delighted that IBM and Linux might be held at bay for
a few more years, but Microsoft was pretty careful to not get directly
involved. SCO was doing the dirty work, and Microsoft could sit back
and be "impartial" - at least with regards to their MSDN members.

In the meantime, Microsoft was also not so secretly arranging $56
million in funding (Cab fare for Bill Gates) to help SCO wage it's
legal war against IBM and Novell.

There are many interesting personalities here in COLA, all of whom
keep the conversation alive. No point in making personal attacks,
since there are more interesting things to write about.

Gee, I don't know. Maybe the fact that SCO's lawsuit was intended to
either shut down Linux or extract royalties from every Linux user -- or
that Microsoft fronted big money to keep SCO's lawsuits going against
IBM and Novell and others.

My, what short memories WinTrolls have suddenly developed.

   http://www.catb.org/~esr/halloween/halloween10.html

Excuse me, did we say in Halloween IX that Microsoft's under-the-table
payoff to SCO for attacking Linux was just eleven million dollars? Turns
out we were off by nearly an order of magnitude - it was much, much
   more than that.

The document below was emailed to me by an anonymous whistleblower inside
SCO. He tells me the typos and syntax bobbles were in the original. I
could not, when I received it, certify its authenticity, but I presumed
   that IBM's, Red Hat's, Novell's, AutoZone's, and Daimler-Chryler's
lawyers could subpoena the original. On March 4th, within 24 hours of
publication, SCO confirmed that the memo is legitimate.

      . . .

I realize the last negotiations are not as much fun, but Microsoft
will have brough in $86 million for us including Baystar.
