Ubuntu 10.04 full of bugs. Keyboard stops working seems popular....

Do they even test this Ubuntu Linux turdware before releasing it
on the unsuspecting public?

It sure doesn't seem like it.

"My mouse and keyboard are not working(in Ubuntu 10.04)
oday I trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 but when I installing 10.04
from CD my keyboard works only in the startup menu when choosing
whether to install or check for disk errors. but when I get to the
actual installation and need to choose time zone, partitions and
such, both keyboard and mouse are not working.

My pc configuration is: motherboard intel d102gcc2, processor
Pentium D 2.8Ghz, ram 1gb. keyboard
a4tech(ps/2),mouse:eyesee(ps/2) optical"

Another person with the same problem....

" Re: My mouse and keyboard are not working(in Ubuntu 10.04)
I upgraded my Ubuntu to lucid lynx this morning and the keyboard
stopped working. It seems like a lot of people are having similar
problems. I was thinking of waiting for some time in case someone
fixes the problem. I'm using my other operating systems in the
meantime."

......And yet another person with the same problem.

"Just wanted to add that I'm having the same problem. Did the
upgrade from Karmic to Lucid, keyboard and mouse lock up whenever
I either click on my user name or highlight the name and hit
enter.

I was able to boot into rescue mode. I chose repair packages and
let the OS do it's thing. Then I selected resume normal boot,
entered username and password and "startx" and the mouse and
keyboard worked.

The I couldn't get on to the Internet. NIC seemed to be working,
status showed eth0 connected. IF config showed NIC was working,
but trying to ping the router was unsuccessful.

Anyway, when I rebooted I had the same lock up of the mouse and
keyboard as before. "

The wonders of "works for me" xorg.conf'less setups no doubt. LOL that
was a GREAT thread. All lied and said it worked "for them" and then
someone, Homer maybe (not sure), gave Smartie an xorg.conf to get his
video working. Apparently Creepy had been "xorg'less" for ages - if you
believe a word he ever says.

I don't believe anything the Linux vermin in COLA claim.
They are proven to be liars.

Judging by the bug reports, this Ubuntu 10.04 LTS seems to be an
even bigger turd than the 9.10 version which was pretty bad when
released.

So much for LTS..

Same here, only the mouse is working but I can't login because of the
keyboard that isn't working!
The "crash_O'_matic" Ubuntu 10.04 is officially declared dead and has to be
removed.
I bet that of all the downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 crapware editions 60% will be
removed within a few days!

"All lied" you say? Okay then, time to put your money where your mouth
is. Point to *one single post* where *I* claimed that having no
xorg.conf "works for me". regardless of the hardware.

If you can't, I'll leave it up to chrisv to document yet another
Hadron lie.

It's a troll, through and through. Only a true arsehole would sneer
at various actual experiences and lump them all into one category,
and then claimed they all lied. The man is a sociopath (as is the
poster he is fluffing).

My Acer laptop has no xorg.conf; my home server has one. As I have
already noted. Different setups for different combinations of chipset and
monitors. Who'd 'ave thunk it?

By the way, it is useless to ask that thick plank for links.
I'm assuming the question is rhetorical, TomB.

You may have never said it. But I did. I stand by it. Here's what I
have:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
kcsmart@acermobile:~ $ dir /etc/X11
app-defaults fonts rgb.txt X xkb Xsession Xsession.options Xwrapper.config
default-display-manager openbox sessions xinit Xresources Xsession.d XvMCConfig

kcsmart@acermobile:~ $ locate xorg.conf
/usr/share/man/man5/xorg.conf.5.gz
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A manpage. That's it. It's the same on the other netbook. I'm not sure
if the desktop has an xorg.conf or not. I connect to it from the
netbooks, almost never sitting in front of it any more. So I don't even
care if it has X running or not.

Here's what /does/ work for me on both netbooks, placed in a login
script:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1024x768
xrandr --addmode LVDS1 1024x600
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600
xrandr --output VGA1 --left-of LVDS1
---------------------------------------------------------------------

If I have the external monitor connected, it will make it 1024x768 and
place it, with the taskbar on it, to the left of the netbook screen,
which is set to 1024x600. If the external monitor isn't connected, it
basically sets it up as 1024x600 for the netbook, leaves the taskbar
there and ignores the rest.

If message-ID Quirk really used linux he'd know these things are
possible. Since "Hadron" Qualig has never really used linux he can't
know these things. He thinks since everything has to be set up using a
gooey on Windwoes then it also has to be done that way on everything
else.

Don't expect Queef to show any message IDs where you claimed anything.
He can't. So he'll settle for calling you a liar without any evidence
to support it.

No, the statement is yet another one of your pathetic trolls. Most
comments in that particular thread (including mine) were about X being
able to run without a configuration file in a lot of cases, but
certainly not all. And that's a fact.

Indeed. It is truly strange that "Hadron" doesn't know that his system
might not require an Xorg. It's right on the wiki page:

   http://wiki.debian.org/Xorg

What if I do not have an xorg config file?

If xorg.conf is missing for some reason, Xorg will probe your hardware on
every startup. Though this works fine in most cases, some settings remain
   inaccessible.  ====================================

I tried again and now it has a working keyboard:
Installed / upgraded VMware Workstation 6.5 to 7.0.0 build-203739
Installed ubuntu-910.7z from
http://www.vmware.com/appliances/
VariableAdmin.com version
Upgraded to ubuntu 10.04
Firefox was still a mess, so I use Opera instead.

I had an existing VM running Ubuntu 9.10 and I'm trying the upgrade option

Pffft. Restarted after the upgrade and the keyboard doesn't work.

I'll stuck with Mint, I think.

Amazing that they can let a steaming pile of crap like this Ubuntu
10.04 out loose in the community.

You might want to try PCLOS 2010 latest that was just released.

Reports are very positive for that distribution.

It's amazing that you think anyone takes you seriously.

And, AGAIN, 10.04 is doing well compared to previous Ubuntu releases,
including the last LTS.

You completely ignore the issue at hand: the inability to login because of a
keyboard that doesn't work in Ubuntu 10.04, which worked well in version
9.10.

I don't believe anything the Lemming vermin in COLA claim.

They are proven liars.

OTOH, you can try Ubuntu for free risk free. You don't have to
listen to fear mongers. You can make up your own mind. This is
how it's always been.

You can even boot off of the CD and not bother your current OS.

I'm not ignoring it. I am sure the bug exists.

Did you wake up from your nap too soon, Kindergarten Boy?

Read the numbers and wail, Kindergarten Boy. 10.04 is doing well compared
to previous releases of Ubunto, including the last LTS.

And if you really wanted help with the bug, you ask in an appropriate
forum/group.

Exactly. We were there, and we know that Larry is lying.

"Hadron" is a liar. "Hadron" is a POS.

Another Quack bald-faced lie. Documented.

The lying POS won't even be able to show *one* of us lying about it,
much less "all".

Message-ID Larry is such a buffoon, such a pathetic, shitty little
loser. LOL

His mother should be so proud, of raising that POS.
