Where Do The Children Play?
--Cat Stevens
Well I think it's fine, building jumbo planes.
Or taking a ride on a cosmic train.
Switch on summer from a slot machine.
Yes, get what you want to if you want, 'cause you can get anything.
I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you roll on roads over fresh green grass.
For your lorry loads pumping petrol gas.
And you make them long, and you make them tough.
But they just go on and on, and it seems that you can't get off.
Oh, I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you've cracked the sky, scrapers fill the air.
But will you keep on building higher
'til there's no more room up there?
Will you make us laugh, will you make us cry?
Will you tell us when to live, will you tell us when to die?
I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?

Yeah, donating a lot of money to 9/11 victims, and founding and funding
children's charities is a sign of terrorism.
The people running the "war on terrorism" are morons.

Perhaps under the shell of a bus that Hamas blew up with funds from
Cat's donations and that killed their parents?
I loved his music in the 70's - perhaps he should have stayed on the
"Peace Train" instead of going for the name change and supporting
terrorist groups that aimed at civilians instead of soldiers...

This is beginning to look more and more like the McCarthy Witch-hunt.
Today instead of "Have you at any time supported any organization
which supports communists" it's "Have you at any time supported any
organization which supports terrorists".
It's a question that can only be answered "Not to my knowledge". But
the McCarthy tactic was to demand a "yes" in which case you would have
to either name others, or you would be blacklisted and unable to find
work in your profession. Or you could say no, at which point they
would identify a check you wrote to a charity which sent food and
supplies to children in a communist country - and one of those
shipments was intercepted by the target group. Now you could be
sentenced to prison for perjury, blacklisted, AND forced to name
everyone you knew as a communist/terrorist.
Mind you, I don't support terrorists, and I think that many of the
things that President Bush did were appropriate. But revoking the
constitutional rights of United States Citizens, calling the United
Nations "Irrelevant", and unilateral invasion of a country with the
intent of assasinating it's key leaders - as recognized by the United
Nations, was not appropriate.
Putting 18 year old kids in airports with loaded machine guns was not
appropriate.
Forcing passengers to wait up to 2 hours to pass through "security
clearance" was not appropriate. Giving security guards license to pat
down any woman wearing a short dress or short skirt was not
appropriate.
Having supporters publish books that claimed that anyone who disagrees
with President Bush is a traitor - is not appropriate.
Making deals with executives who admit criminal acts under oath that
allow them to continue to commit criminal acts, then sitting back and
watchinig them continue to commit criminal acts - is not appropriate.
Granting federal contracts worth $Billions - without following the
required bidding and procurement process, was not appropriate.
Public prosecution of corporate executives and corporations in a
manner that turns an error of less than 1/10th of 1% into a 99% crash
in stock price, is not appropriate.
Allowing stock brokers to withold evidence in a criminal trial due to
a settlement - then convicting an ordinary citizen based on that lack
of evidence - was inappropriate.
Bush is the best politician money can buy.
I'm not sure that Kerry would be any better though.
At the Republican convention, there were many moderate speakers I
would have voted for in a heartbeat. Instead we ended up with the
Texas Redneck.
At the Democratic convention, there were many moderate speakers I
would have considered voting for without reservation. Instead we got
the "taxichussetts flip-flop".
American democracy at it's best?

Here's his quote:
"Go and kill that fat mufta, so I can gits some sleep. Peace out!"

I think I'll add myself to the list of "terrorist supporters". I'm going to
make a donation to Small Kindness (www.smallkindness.org), Cat Steven's
children's charity.

I think he would've been far better off sticking with the "Cat Stevens"
shtick and forgetting all the other crap he was getting into (i.e.,
becoming "Islam"). He's a good example of a great talent gone to waste.
Stick to music, and forget about religion.
