We had performed clean installations of Windows 7 Professional x64 and 
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS x86_64 one at a time onto each of these six test systems. 
Each operating system was left with their defaults and all standard Phoronix 
test practices were enforced. In regards to graphics drivers, we installed 
the latest proprietary graphics drivers for each operating system where 
applicable, which included ATI Catalyst 10.4 for the Radeon/FirePro hardware 
and on the NVIDIA side the 197.54 WHQL Windows 7 x64 driver (and the 197.16 
notebook driver was needed for the ION setup) and on the Linux side the 
NVIDIA driver was 195.36.15.

Well, that is part one of our Ubuntu 10.04 LTS vs. Windows 7 testing. As 
much as we would have liked to see Ubuntu's Lucid Lynx handily beat Windows 
7, this was not the case, but to some extent the opposite. Windows 7 in some 
of the tests possessed definitive leads over Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Windump is the same old pig relying on fake statistics.

There is no mention of AV software running and office
and other real world applications installed which is what happens in
the real world.

They had to be removed to allow windump to compete
in the race at all!!!!

Frame rates alone don't make games playable.
The random windump hesitations cause games to become pigs.

No mention of the intermittent hesitations under windump
which plagues windump gaming systems and make it unusable
when AV and other software like office is installed.

These guys can't be trusted to make real world comparisons.
