just delurk for a quick post...
Just spotted in my daily paper an OEM advert for PC class computers with no
ms-windows XP OEM pre-install, but are for sale with Linux pre-installed
instead...
<http://www.tiny.com/packages.php?prodid=10986> cost £229 ex VAT and
delivery...
I just love the Tiny.com recommends Microsoft windows XP crud on those
pages... one of the conditions for Tiny to get a big discount on the oem
cost of ms-windows is for them to have that crud plastered everywhere...
the cheapest similarish spec box available for home use with XP
pre-installed is here
<http://www.tiny.com/packages.php?prodid=7660>
price £359 ex VAT and delivery... mind you they make it hard to compare as
it's got 256MB ram instead of 128MB and also has ms-works bundled... but
the Linspire one has got OpenOffice available for free download if not
already pre-installed... not sure, will have to check Linspire for what is
included as standard.
