Logitech USB headsets
Hi,
I am setting up for voip. Does anyone have experience of Logitech USB
headsets (250 or 350), under 2.6 kernels? Do they work? Any gotchas? Is
the 350 worth the extra price?
Thanks,
Geoff

I am using a 350 with Skype, under Ubuntu 5.10, with no problems
whatsoever. The 350 has "inline controls", i.e. volume and mic-mute
buttons in a small plastic housing on the cable around 50 cm (20")
from the headset itself.
The only thing I do not like is that apparently the designers assumed
this control housing will be always clipped to your pocket or lapel.
They made the cable between the headset and the inline controls much
thinner than the cable between the controls and the USB connector.
I may not be, but it looks much weaker than the other segment.

Thanks for the response Roberto. When no-one had replied after a few days
I went out and bought the 350 anyway and I agree with your general
comments. I have no problems with skype, or when using the headset under
OSS emulation with Kphone. Kphone and some other programs do, however,
have problems if I use Alsa. Kphone aborts with an unable to set channel
error. Twinkle works, but outputs a lot of Alsa error messages.
Regards,
Geoff
