Browser lost keyboard response

  • Follow

Hi there

I have been having this problem for the recent month. Both opera and
mozilla sometimes simply have no response to my keyboard although the
mouse still works fine. Also, other applications still have my keyboard
working perfectly. Do you know what could be causing the problem?
Thanks a lot.

PS: I am running gentoo on a PC.

If you have multiple browser windows and tabs open, sometimes the
keyboard may become attached to a window other than the currently
focused one. Clicking the mouse on the current window might correct the
problem.

That sounds sort-of like the symptom I'm seeing with
Mandrake 10.0 plus all official Mandrake updates, using
open-motif's mwm (from 'contrib') as window manager. My
symptoms started after an update to XFree86 a few months
ago.

One thing I found that helps my symptom (at least for a
while) is to bring up a window manager menu and release it
without selecting anything. For me, that restores keyboard
functionality (until the problem happens again).

What window manager are you using?

Does bring up and releasing a window manager menu restore
keyboard functionality for you?

Good luck.
