Been running 5.3 on an X86_64 for a while, generally pretty happy with
it.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's running Centos 6. Do you
reckon it's about time to upgrade or should I wait for it to settle
down a bit?

I've been running Scientific Linux 6 all year on a half dozen machines.
It's completely solid as you would expect from a RHEL clone. SL is now at
6.1. SL has been running significantly ahead of CentOS on the 6 series
which is why I switched from CentOS to SL. BTW in the SL installer you can
select the extra repositories, such as EPEL and ATRPMS, when you do a
custom install which saves you the trouble of having to add them in
afterwards.
